Maybe I posted this Baby Boomers Group suggestion in the wrong place?
I tried the lounge without a lot of success but maybe that's not where to find folks over 40. So I'm trying again here in GD.

As I was showering this morning, I put shampoo on my hair before I got it wet. Now, when you're young and you do such things, you think nothing of it but when you're over 40 (I'm 49,) you think you're beginning to lose it.

That got me to thinking about how great it would be to discuss such issues with others who are over 40. A list of possibly common issues comes to mind:

Coming of age in the 60s and 70s
Empty Nest
"Un-Empty" Nest
Parenting young adults
Planning for Retirement
Career Restarts
Going back to school
Travel
Grandparenting
Health and Exercise
Downsizing
Menopause

Possible mission statement: Information, discussion, and support for DU members over 40.

Anyone interested? We don't have to use the name "Baby Boomers Group" but so far, I haven't thought of anything better.

By the way, I was so distracted writing this post in my mind that I almost got out of the shower without rinsing my hair!!

2. That is right down my alley.
I a well of age to discuss all of the subjects. I am 54, soon to be older and have concerns about alot of things. Life passes by so fast.

5. Terrific idea
and your possible topics are also very good. I am 50 and was about to go into the Seniors group (I consider myself to be a Pre Geezer) to look for something along these line. I like it. Count me in.

6. I didn't know there was a Seniors group
but I think you're right -- that our issues aren't quite the same yet as theirs. I think we're still roughly a generation away from being seniors.

Do you think there's a better name than "Baby Boomer Group?"

16. LOL! Great idea!
After reading the other groups' requests to Skinner, though, I have a feeling he'd like the name to be more uniquely descriptive of the group so people can tell from the title what the group is about. "Still Crazy" could sure be our nickname, though! :D

12. Not really.
Pre Geezers Group? I saw that here once and adopted it, I think it is very funny. Boomer group is fine though, it pretty much describes us. I really love this idea.

7. I just turned 55 in September...
I'd participate in that forum. I can still do what I did at 35...seems like yesterday. Wasn't it?

And I have a hard time even specifying an age because it's more a season of life, if I may wax poetic. ;)

15. I would be interested.
After all the gratuitous bashing of baby boomers in the media AND George W. Bush falsely claiming to be one of us (God forbid), I am more than ready to talk turkey with other boomers.
