Best Buy gets sued for age discrimination
http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/business/10206775.htm?1c

Glad I didn't take that job offer a few months back. While I'm younger than their age range, it's clear that BB selling off this division to a much larger company that CAN outsource it all to some country whose human rights records are appalling, you can expect those workers to be out of the job soon.

Best Buy Co., the world's biggest consumer electronics retailer, was accused in a lawsuit of discriminating against older workers when it transferred information-technology jobs to Accenture Ltd.

The lawsuit, filed today in federal court in Minneapolis, claims Best Buy targeted workers over age 40 when it fired about 150 people in October 2003 and June 2004. About 68 percent of the fired workers were over 40 with an average age of 51, even though the information-services workers generally were younger, according to the lawsuit filed by 44 former Best Buy workers.

2. I took a part time job there for something to do. Boy what a big mistake
they look for ways to screw you. I was working 1 day a week because the managers were pocketing the budget for my dept.

3. I bought ONE THING there and the employees (all young) were awful
No one would help me - I was buying a small CD player - and worse, after I bought it, no one offered to help me carry it to my car - even though I am not that large, and the only person with me was smaller than I - they were all lounging around talking to each other and just watched me struggle out with a large box that barely fit in my arms. Now, I'm sure that low wages and lack of training had something to do with it, but still.
