But this latest Britney development is a little jarring. One day your fresh-faced daughter leaves for school hopping and skipping in saddle shoes and pigtails, the next she comes home pierced and tattoed and dragging along a boyfriend named Two Gun. Same effect here. It appears Britney is intent on leaving her girlish ways behind, along with any semblance of a career. http://www.msnbc.com/news/948669.asp

I liked this bit:
There was a benefit concert in Toronto recently to rehabilitate tourism after the SARS scare. The event was headlined by the Rolling Stones. Somehow Timberlake got on the bill. Fans reacted to his set by pelting him with vegetables.
Ha, ha! That cracks me up. Did they come prepared with vegetables, knowing that he was going to be on the bill?

No mention of Britney in the press for like a year, except for when her ex-beau outed her on the virginity thing. So to give herself some face time on national TV, she sucks face with Madonna. Yeah, that'll be good for a coupla days of clucking and eye-rolling on the networks. Then back to obscurity.
Then, in a last-ditch "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" effort, the Playboy spread (pun intended). Inevitable title for the feature: "She's not that innocent."
YAWN... wake me when the new Bjork CD comes out!

My best friend's (ex) stepdad, a diehard neo-con who ran for office and is pretty well connected in the Conservative Party, is one of those creepy dirty old men that loves Britney. The guy is like 50 and is always drooling about how "hot" she is (whatever), and is forever explaining in graphic detail the things he would like to do to her.
He also wants one of those Chimpy action figures. One sick dude, and the epitome of Repuke values.

I am 27 so I think I am grown up. It's sad that a 48 year old has nothing better to do than attack a 21 year old pop star. Britney is a millionaire so I am not too worried about her. For your information a lot of people like Britney so I don't care what your geeky relatives say. They probably like "punk" aka Avril Lavigne. It is people in this forum that make Democrats look bad. she sounds like Junior High girls I taught. Not much critical thinking there. Not malicious intentions, just answering a question no one probably ever asked before with an innocuous answer.
Since it was tucker asking, you have two clueless tools who don't know dick. <G>

First of all I hate this attitude of "Celebrities are better then us so they must know more." If Britney Spears showed some interest and knowledge about the subject (like Janeanne Garofalo does), then, yeah, I'd like to hear what she has to say. But she doesn't so I don't. If you ask Britney Spears about the war in Iraq why not ask Warren Christopher about the Seattle music trend in the 90's? Celebrities are not all knowing.
As for supporting the president, there's a lot of people who say that. Many are Repukes but many aren't. They just aren't informed, and they don't pay attention. Britney strikes me as the latter because, let's face it: Britney is rich enough that she doesn't have to pay attention to the world.
Britney gets these interviews because she is famous and doesn't know enough about the subject to discuss it because she has enough money that she doesn't need to worry about it. Sucks, don't it?

(Britney being a clueless hack, that is) Regardless, she is/was nothing more than a fad - it seems the music industry cycles through them faster and faster, these days (which is a sad testament to what has become of the music industry, yet almost a blessing for those of us who abhor the idea of talentless people being paid exorbitant sums of money to pollute our airwaves and induce uncontrollable projectile vomiting).
Anyway - I just thought I'd add my two cents to yours, for what it's worth...

Spoiled brat came to mind as I saw her interviewed. No, that's too kind. She came across as overcome by her own cuteness, and if she doesn't get a handle on that personality flaw, it will move into narcissism.

Tucker and Carville were laughing at her on Crossfire after they first showed it too. I think they both thought it was just a stupid, stupid thing to say. Was funny to see even Tucker laughing at her given that he actually supports Bush.

78. NEWS ALERT--I don't think anyone over, oh about 30-35, even knows |
|
who this broad is---I keep getting her confused with like 10 zillion others that look all alike. And you see, the young are the worst when it comes to turning out for an election. They gotta be digging in the bottom of the barrel for this---dumb fucks. If they really want to sway voters they need Lawrence Welk (opps he's dead) for the real old crowd and Elvis (oppps he's dead, too) for my generation or Frankie Avalon or Fabian or Annette Funicello and then you get into whomever was around about mid-70's. Now then you would be talking about voting influence. In fact, I wonder how many Arnnnuld fans in CA are old enough to vote or have ever registered or even know how to 'cause it isn't something they ever do!!!

Maybe she saw how speaking out against Bush gets your career ruined, and she's trying to make a comeback so perhaps her handlers told her to not say anything that the drooling hyenas at Fox could use to boycott her new CD or whatever.
Besides, it's Britney Spears. Its not like her opinon on world affairs matters even if she made anti Bush comments, except for the fact that half of DU would claim to be her biggest fan.

Britney Spears saying we should just trust the Resident no matter what he does.
WE HAVE WON. It is all over but the shouting. I can just here them trying to spin this into their favor.
"Well Britney trusts the President, enough said." - Tucker
"Who are you to argue with Jiggly, I mean Britney?" - Novak
"Britney says 'Trust the Pres.', so shut up!" - O'Reilly

whenever an eloquent DEMOCRAT speaks out against * (Streisand, etc.), it's "they should shut up", "who the hell are they", "what do they know about foreign policy", etc.
Fuck this ignorant bimbo.
Where does she get off telling us who to trust.
I think she has a lot of nerve.

107. If you're over 20 and you idolize Britney Spears |
|
Then you have a screw loose. You obviously idolize her as indicated by your incessant need to come in here and defend her. BS doesn't need you to defend her, so obviously you have some other motivation. My theory is you have some sort of mental deficiency and I'm sticking with that.
