I'm more than freaked out by this. Seems I've been seeing bits and pieces, but this NPR expose seems to be a barn burner. I mean, they have audio on these guys.

American prisons all these years. That kind of sadism doesn't just appear. These guys torturing detainees have had years of experience doing these same things to our 2 million incarcerated for many many years.
Surprised?

8. I had a hell of a time collecting myself. |

The guy talking about the guards siccing the dog on him and it biting him to the bone; the fellow from Guayana who had spent so many years living in and loving the U.S., only to find out there is another, much darker side...
Yeah, it was a bit of a surprise that NPR ran it, especially since they won't touch the BBV thing at all. Feeling a bit guilty, maybe?

9. Do you think that any of it will break through? |
|
Tomorrow they are going to air the interviews of 2 different detainees who witnessed the same beating, interviewed separately from 2 different locations, thousands of miles away, and contrast them with the "official story". This could be big.

So many of us (not here, but Americans on the whole) prefer to ignore suffering. Whether it's Iraq, BBV, or our country turning into a fascist theocracy, people don't want to face the mess we're in.
I think most of us are so busy and working so hard that it all becomes just so much noise. I think this is why BushCo succeeds in spite of all the evidence that he's been a total failure...people would rather not face facts and have one more damn thing to worry about.
Simplistic, sure. But I bet it's close to the truth.

12. Yep, specificallly about treatment of "detainees" within our prison system |
|
seems feds are "jobbing out" there torture. Interviews with other prison wardens and prison experts say that the use of attack dogs is WAY beyond legal. Would be interesting to see the numbers from companies that train ATTACK dogs, not drug sniffing, but attack dogs. Bet their businesses are booming.
