Does anyone here have experience setting up a wind turbine?
I'd like to set up a wind generator on my property as an alt. energy source, and I don't know where to begin.

I would be grateful if someone could recommend a book or website.

2. I will take a gander at my old links
I used to work for enron's wind energy division, but those were huge wind machines. I did gain an interest in it all though and on my old windows PC I have some good links. Will VNC into and see what I can find in a few for you.

3. Here are a few I had, in order of favorite
http://www.windstreampower.com/windpower/windsevensteps.html

http://www.picoturbine.com/booklist.htm

http://www.mayflowertrading.com/Our%20library%20home_power%20technology.htm
(Some books on subject, changes from time to time)

I would also recommend using http://www.google.com/unclesam
as there are a lot of goverment resources available (sometimes takes some looking around there).

4. Home Power magazine is a good resource
They seem to about about 60/40 solar to wind, but they may have what you're looking for.

5. I've done solar and hydro-electric, never wind, but here's a link...
to Real Goods. They handle different types of alternate energy stuff. They are not far from where I live, and I've dealt with them before and can recommend them. Lots of books and seminars, as well as hardware.

7. Measure your wind first...
The realgoods.com link is good.

In many places the wind doesn't carry as much energy as you think, and solar power is a better option.
