but if you count all of those who have left over the years, the membership is actually probably half of that.

Still, on most message boards the lurkers outnumber the members three or four times!

if you count the unregistered lurkers. I myself read religiously and checked in almost everyday for over 1 year before my first post. Formal registration and 1st post were promptly induced by the trauma of 11/2. <waves to lurkers>
