"Posts on conservative website advocate violence against journalist

The discussion board at FreeRepublic.com, a prominent right-wing online forum, contains numerous posts from members advocating violence against NBC News correspondent Kevin Sites, who recorded and reported the close-range shooting by a U.S. Marine of an unarmed and wounded Iraqi insurgent.

Comments about Sites on Free Republic include:

* "Turn Sites over to the terrorist."
* "Fragamundo."
* "No need for anything overt. Unfortunate things happen in combat zones, and if the reporter fails to hear someone yell 'Sniper!!', well, c'est la guerre" ."

5. Yeah, let's
go "1984" on them, and have Homeland Security and the FBI knock on their doors. Please. A couple of weeks ago someone from freeperville took a post of mine and transplanted it over there. Over 350 posts were quickly attached to it. Quite a few of them stated that Homeland Security and the FBI should be knocking on my door. For the record my post didn't call for harm or death to anyone.

I've read many of the posts over there that wish harm on Kevin Sites. I find them repugnant. But no more repugnant than posts of the same ilk here. Those ill wishes aren't threats, they're angry cant.

Freedom of speech is too important to want to extinguish, even when that speech disgusts us.

7. Sites is a good guy
I remember reading his blog with the invasion first started. He was embedded with a unit. Then the military told him he was revealing too much so for "security" reasons he had to stop. Now he is back again doing the same thing. This time though I hope he keeps going. Freepers don't like it when their wars are unsanitized.

9. I hope Sites is safe
Someone will waste him with the tensions the way they are. Bloody year for journalists and all that. Even Big Ed on Air America seems happy with the guy being exterminated. It is all so disgusting and the troops shouldn't be there in the first place.

11. Well it's not like the right doesn't have a history of this
It's amazing how many unimbedded reporters were killed by US forces after they had given thier locations or identified themselves to these same forces in order to not be attacked by accident.

Uncontroled reporters are always a danger to fascists.

I think it's also interesting how this trend has develped that when ever some kind of atrocity committed by Americans occurs, the right immediatly seeks to punish..the people who exposed it.

IF the insurgents or terrorists commit any atrocity, they get suitably outraged. But the fact that they are so particular abourt thier outrage tells me that this is all show. They aren't bothered by beheadings or suicide bombings or whatever. They love it, I think. becuase those things provide them an excuse to let loose the blood lust and callousness and Bigotry that they already hold.
and so when "thier" side gets shown to be just as bad, of course they get angry. Thier false compassion has been exposed.

I know its wrong to demonize people you don't know. but seriously..is it just me or does the Right seem to view human life as only having value as long asa it serves a PR purpose?

and the freepers are worst of all. It's like a collection of sociopaths. Moral relativism to the point of psychosis, in inability to emphasize with other human beings or see them as human beings, and a complete lack of distinguishment between right and wrong.

And they plan on running this country? Oh Good Goddess!
