What is the plausible excuse in the Kelly case?
I really don't understand; what we are to believe that would vindicate Blair?

Are we supposed to believe that Kelley made up lies to tell the BBC about sexing up the documents? Is that supposed to be the explanation from the Blair camp? What for? Was he a traitor to Britan? A secret Iraqi spy? What?

What could possibly be the motivation for a professional to report false information behind his employer's back? Are they suggesting that Kelly was trying to sabotage something? I really really really can't understand what the story is here.

Is there a plausible excuse for Blair? What kind of story could possibly be cooked up to explain this whole thing, other that what everyone already knows - that the war was based on false pretenses purposefully cooked at the behest of our leaders and that Kelley told the truth to the BBC because he knew he was guilty of lying for Blair to instigate the war, guilty of contributing to the most heinous criminal episode of our times.

1. someone has said that Dr. Kelly expected to be found
'dead in the woods' and the Guardian talked about that
remark a few days ago. Says it was hugely overlooked in
meaning and intent.

The man who mentioned it said it means to be killed,
like by intelligence officers of the British army. He
just shakes his head. He believes Dr. Kelly said he
would be assassinated if there was war with Iraq. The
belief was that if a real judicial inquiry was held,
things would come out the way they should.

God save the Guardian.

2. I still don't get it
there's two ways to take 'dead in the woods'
1. Kelly was suicidal and had already thought about a method of suicide
2. Kelly was saying he would be rubbed out for what he knew.

The person who revealed this statement indicated he thought it was #2

Even if Blair says it was #1 - there is still no theory for a motive as to why Kelly told the BBC he was ordered to sex up the documents.

Am I missing something?

It seems that Blair is saying Kelley lied about something which he had nothing to gain from, in fact incriminated himself in an attrocity, and he ultimatelty lost his life over it, one way or another...

What was Kellys motive for spreading disinformation to BBC? I think they are implying that it was the BBC made false allegations about Blair and they somehow enticed Kelly to agree with them? Even though he knew it would be his end?

3. Blair v. BBC
I believe that Blair is accusing the BBC of exaggerating Dr. Kelly's comments, rather than accusing Kelly of lying. Even New Labour is not audacious enough to continue blaming Kelly after his death (except of course when they compared him to Walter Mitty, in a new version of the classic 'nuts and sluts' strategy)

Here is a link to the BBC's summary of day 11, when Blair spoke to the Hutton inquiry:
