Born on the 4th of July...1-2-3-4 We Don't Want Your Stinking War!
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 11:56 AM by SuffragetteSal
The movie Born on the 4th of July was on last night...and I cried to think we as a nation seemed to have learned nothing and I cried reminded of senseless wars and gruesome deaths...and I cried because once again I missed being apart of making a change for the better with this past election 2004.

I can't help but feel the hand of something ominous must be at work behind this republican agenda....I am left with no other explanation.

1. I just finished watching "Schindler's List" again last night

(I needed a Liam Neeson fix.:P)

But during the film, I kept thinking, "How can people be so full of hate?" Then I remembered what's going on in our world right now.

Exterminating Jews? Hell, many Muslims would do the same to Christians if they could. And many Christians would do the same to Muslims as well.

How far off are we from the kind of hate that led to the Holocaust? I think we're nightmarishly close.

2. I understand needing a Liam fix!
Thanks for your comment. I was feeling pretty low this morning thinking about how things seem to go in a circle and change comes so darn slow. I was hoping the 21st century would be so much better.

3. Another Liam fan!
What IS it about that man? (sigh)

You said, "I was hoping the 21st century would be so much better."

It could have been. And it will be. If anything, watching "Schindler's List" again cemented my opinion that we always have to stand tall and speak out for what's just.

"Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire."

4. Sometimes looking at it from a historical perspective actually helps me...

Because I realize the wheel always turns again. That's both good and bad.

But Gandhi says it best, I think (see my sig).

I hope that helps. It's so hard right now, I know.

-wildflower

ON EDIT: My sig isn't showing up so I'm pasting it in:

_________

"Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: always." - Gandhi

"Just one, one, one...So you begin...I begin. I picked up one person - maybe if I didn't pick up that person I wouldn't have picked up 42,000...Just begin...one, one, one." - Mother Theresa

"Boys around the table, mapping out their strategies / Kings all of mountains one day dust" - Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls), "Everything in its own time"
