This story about Kerry having $15-17 million left makes me nauseous
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/18/democrats.kerry.ap/index.html

I can't beleive he banked $15-17 million for '08. Why didn't he spend the $15-17 million on ads in Ohio and Florida in the last week of the campaign? After all, wasn't it "the most important election of our lifetime?"

I raised money for guy and went to Florida as a volunteer for a week before the election to canvass and monitor. I'm pretty disgusted.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

1. At first blush, I feel the same as you
Maybe there's a good explanation, but right now I'm not thinking good thoughts about this.

4. He gave $23m to the Party and $9m directly to candidates
All this buys a lot of air time and GOTV efforts and so on.

3. someone else mentioned the possibility
that we was saving it to dispute the count/fund recounts/pay lawyers etc... My delusional thinking which expands on this is that this is proof he is planning to jump back and fight the results..of course evidence points to the contrary..

8. I am witholding my opinion for now
I am not sure - I did wonder - could that money be used for legal fights, even if he did have some money in the other account for that. Do we know how much Gore spent on legal issues? I don't know campaign finance law at all. I know he had a separate account, because he was not allowed to raise any money anymore in the main account.

I will withold my opinion until Kerry is allowed to speak about it.

He could be planning on saving it until results are final in case he does need it for legal issues - if the Ohio recount turns up something.

7. Why is it that folks on DU will believe the media's spin on
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 01:36 PM by merh
some stories and go totally ape shit and drink the kool aid after they hear/read them, but other stories they get mad at the media for their slanted and biased spin and whine that the media won't give the truth a break?

Do you think the MSM wants to continue their efforts at discrediting Kerry and turn his supporters against him? :silly:

Maybe it is me, but I don't believe there are ulterior motives and we need to not take the bait.

10. I saw Kerry commercials

And Kerry himself, and 521 ads on end here in Wisconsin for nearly a month and one-half. If he put this effort in other swing states and still has money left it wasn't for lack of trying to spend the money. There may be other avenues of exposure but would they have been worth it?

15. Get off his back!
This is a story being pushed by Fox big time. Every day it is a new one to discredit Kerry in case he is planning on running in 08 or just planning on taking on Bush now.

12. what's even more upsetting is that he's not using those funds . . .
to fight for this election . . . I'm disguted that he caved so early and that he apparently has no interest in exposing the massive election fraud that took place . . . whether the count changes enough to turn the election is not the issue, since so many votes can't be recounted because of BBV and the Republican corporations who control the counting . . . it's all covered extrememly well in this article . . .

Was It Hacked?
http://www.orlandoweekly.com/news/Story.asp?ID=4688

THIS is what the American people have to know about -- ALL of it . . . but the press won't cover it unless someone with clout -- someone like Kerry -- takes a stand and speaks up . . . if he doesn't do that, he's lost my respect and my support for good . . .

13. he accepted public funds so he could not spend that on his own campaign
after the convention.

but i think they said he could use it for legal fees and that's what they saved it for.

18. Calm down folks.
After Kerry became the nominee Gore donated the leftover millions (don't recall the figure) he had leftover from '00 to either Kerry or the DNC. It's all for the cause. Have a leap of faith.

IMHO

The only reasonable causes to give to right now are

http://helpamericacount.org

or we can't win ever with the GOP controlling all aspects of the tallying of votes
