The second one was the monster hit and basically pushed the idea of "Do we get to win this time?" That's the idea that we could win all of our wars if the wimpy politicians, beauracrats, and journalists got out of the way.

Typical short-sighted "enemy of my enemy is my friend" like that got us into this mess in the first place.
