Randi Rhodes just said that Republicans didn't debate
Welcome to the new democracy they don't have to explain what they want to do now! They can just pass anything!

3. Some bill they passed..

Only the democrats showed up to discuss. Republicans can do anything they want and they don't have to explain it.

11. I assume she's talking about the debt limit increase?
I'm not listening to the show, but it seems she might be talking about this:

A divided Senate approved an $800 billion increase in the federal debt limit Wednesday, a major boost in borrowing that Sen. John Kerry and other Democrats blamed on the fiscal policies of President Bush.
...
Republican senators did not join in the debate, underscoring how politically uncomfortable the measure is for them. That discomfort was highlighted when they refused to bring the bill to a vote before the elections.

13. I think it was rising the debt ceiling
the dems were there saying it was bad (duh!), then the reps show up just to vote.

and that's the way it will be, even worse for the next 2 years (4 if the mid-term elections doesn't fix things)

14. I was under the impression
that they pretty much have to raise the debt ceiling because of the current spending. The money is already being spent and the bills already passed to spend it and if they don't raise the debt ceiling either they have to do some creative accounting or the government goes bankrupt. If anyone knows more about this please let me know.

2. Reminds me of the Reagan days
He got into office and had many Dems on his side. And they passed stuff like a whirlwind. Pfui.

17. yes, i understand
i was referring to the speed of passing the legislation. it all happened so fast back then and now that aspect of it is happening again. no questions, no discussion - just wizz-bang and it's law.

8. Our 527's can put this footage into TV ads - why not? Regular updates
pn the behavior of our politicians, in action.

Can you use c-span footage without permission?

Seriously, the only way main stream media viewers will find out about this stuff is if someone OTHER than a MSM outlet puts it on the air.

7. They don't even meet with democrats - let alone debate.
They simply don't need to and have not been doing so for 4 years
already. The minority chairs of the various committees are seeing the bills when they arrive on the floor of the house at the same time as everyone else. Why doesn't the press cover this? To hard for them to understand I reckon.

9. isn't it great. see this is why we shouldn't try anything new, like Dean
in the leadership chair. because it might move the dems out of the mainstream.

10. They've been doing this for years.
The Republicans get together in closed meetings to write bills, then spring them on Congress and bring them up for a vote before anyone else gets a chance to even read them.

16. It Would Be A Great Strategy For Us If We Had Strategists
Think about it ... all the crap about to happen, if the Democrats in EVERY ELECTION EVERYWHERE there is a Republican running, to run ads saying so-and-so suppored George Bush on ALL HIS DESTRUCTIVE POLICIES and so-and-so supported EVERY POLICY.

Over and over and over and OVER -- and how could the Repunks disprove it? No records!

I don't know if it'll happen -- ha ha -- but a kid can dream, can't he?
