Parents of Draft-Age children: Are you advocating non-registration? |
|
I was in the military and what you hear about the professional military not wanting draftees is true. They don't want people who don't want to be there voluntarily.
However, this fascist group in power cares about nothing but their own greedy desires and your son or daughters' life is expendable while their children are untouchable.
Anyone who pays attention to the real news (democracy now, foreign press) knows that the Iraq invasion and occupation was unjust and has turned into an imperialist subjugation of a powerless people sitting atop black gold.
Are you willing to sacrifice your own flesh and blood for their greed?

1. I think it would be more interesting |
|
If the got trained and then turned on their officers when they get sent to Iraq. It would have a that sort of Vietnamish.

you can't apply for student loans or other government programs. Right now the penalties are anemic.

5. dosen't that fit the anti-gov't rightwing agenda? |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 06:26 PM by Postman
all those anti-gov't rightwingers should be advocating non-registration if they truly adhere to their ideology.
Hell, they shouldn't WANT a gov't job if the gov't is the enemy. They shouldn't WANT gov't loans if gov't is the enemy.

now aren't they? Doesn't it just go to 25 for registration? That does not mean they won't change it but I think I read somewhere that if they did not register before they turned 25 they would probably be OK. If I find that info I will send it to you. Then again, I could be wrong.

I would not plan on it working, I would not plan on much of anything working to keep you out except for refusal.

9. My son is 20 and has not registered.... |
|
and although we are ex-pats, my concern is that he will not be able to visit the US if he is on any list at passport control....or arrested... We do not know the implications, and are not at all eager to have him register.
Hell, no, over my dead body would my son be sacrificed for all of this.....

10. The males are registered, but what about the females? |
|
If they are going to draft women, they are going to have to find them first. I don't think implementing that will be easy. Lots of young women will just say screw this.
My son is registered, because he wanted student loans.
And I have talked to all three of my kids about this. My oldest daughter and my son don't want to be drafted.
But my youngest daughter says she will go, just like her dad did when he was drafted.
They have to make their own decisions, and we have to support them.

12. I have been thinking about this. |
|
I seem to recall that there was some kind of a fight that went something like, OK if you want to be equal then you should have to go fight. So we got to join up but they did not let us do anything significant. Then they started letting us do things in the military, fly jets and stuff. Still I don't recall an equal rights ammendment being passed. We still do not earn as much money for the same jobs. Perhaps these young women could make something of this? Am I wrong? I have to admit to a bunch of mommy years when I was pretty out of touch with all of this.
