Ever get the impression the Rethugs really MISS Clinton?
Some of them have such a difficult time letting him go!

I was viewing the slideshow from the library opening. There was one guy with a sign that said "Clinton raped Juanita". And you could just see the tears in his eyes knowing that this was one of his few chances to reminisce about the old days of hating Clinton.

They will never have problems finding a new Enemy.

They will turn this assassination upon whatever new Democratic Leader who emerges.

They're even willing to destroy members of their own Party.

WE miss Clinton. They will always create a new one.

7. This is interesting
I hadn't thought of who the Whipping Boy would be.

Hillary? Naw, she's too distant.

Kerry? Naw, he's unassailable now.

Who?

Wouldn't it be lovely if they started turning on each other, and, in the process, devouring each other, as well?

I honestly believe the Republic will survive, though. I do.

And Lieberman is a bigger whore than McCain, in my book.

11. Actually, that's not a good thing
If ONLY they would destroy one another, if only.

They aren't going after people like DeLay and Santorum -- they're going after people like Spector -- and any other moderate who dares to break out of lockstep.

Moderate Republicans have become as much like ballerinas as Democrats.

What they are doing is overwhelming the opposition. No one is fighting back; no one is applying brakes, and they are solidifying their power. Their goals are extreme.

"Unifying" the country, for them, is silencing the opposition. Neutralizing it.

I USED to think that we could forget that Dems would fight back, but that maybe sane Republicans wold -- but sane Republicans aren't taking the stand they should.

I fear we have taken a turn to fascism. People have embraced authoritarianism; many are simply to afraid to admit to what is happening before their eyes. I don't see any happy outcome. I see misery for the next, hmmm, 15 years. They will lead us to catastrophe. The Republic may survive, but only after passing through an awful period of war and repression and upheaval. It could end sooner, and more happily, if someone stands up to them sooner or later -- the longer it is delayed, the more horrible the outcome will be,

10. My republican dad sure does
He made money hand over fist during Clinton's two terms. But my dad isn't a neo-con. I think you'll find respect among traditional republicans, at least those I talk to. Tha fanatical, hate mongering, Toby Keith, RushBot types are a different story.

12. Two facts about Clinton people love to cite
1) He was the first black president.
2) He was the only successful Republican.

14. He's not a Republican
Despite the opinions of the ultra liberal wing of our party. In their minds, JFK and FDR would have been a Republicans.

15. I know; I was just repeating a "claim"
He really tried to find ways to address the needs of both the business class and the working class, and was a superb success. I respected him for that.

RTD -- I am no ideologue. I'd rather face painful realities than embrace happy fictions anyday. Ideological purity gets on my nerves. Having principles is one thing -- being dogmatic is quite another.

13. They miss the money they made while he was Pres!
Just ask them how much they made. Ask them how wealthy they became under his leadership? Ask them if they were fearful while he was Pres.? Ask them if they had to worry about being drafted and made to fight unjustified and illegal wars while he was Pres.? To hell with the Clinton haters!

16. Republicans NEED hate, just like I need air to breathe...
My favorite question to ask wingers is "Who do you hate this week?" or
When did you start hating Kerry?
The point is , without a subject on which to focus their hatred, they sputter. I was so glad when, before the Dem convention, the rumor was to delay the nomination to neutralize the repub spending advantage. The uproar from the repubs was enormous.
I'm for sending out a "red herring" candidate, to take the flack, then switch.
