King James who commissioned the Bible was totally, openly gay
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 02:49 AM by Melodybe
public records and documents and even some of his own statements are there for proof. When I say gay, I mean fucking flaming Liberachi gay. He liked young boys even British histroy text books mention it.

My Christians will say his version of the Bible is the only real word of God.

I wonder if they ever think about that? Oh yeah I forgot, they don't ever think.

So next time you talk to a Christian bring this up, watch there head explode.

26. You know what I mean
You were one of those kids in grade school who always responded "it's graphite" when someone said their mechanical pencil was out of "lead", right?

:D

6. What's crazy is every freaking history teacher I have ever had
who covered the time period, mentioned his gayness. Some even made fun of James for his open gayness. I live in MS.

I always want to see a link. Might come in handy later. Saying I read a post about it on a left-leaning website just doesn't cut it with some folks. :)

http://members.tripod.com/~MPHAWAII/Religion/KingJamesBible.htm

http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/2437/fundies.htm, at the very bottom of the document is a bit about Buaer and Robertson's rejection of the King James translation.

http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/ftricks.htm

Google King James and see for yourself.

I found a bunch of books on this:

From the intro of one:

" A large collection of letters exchanged between James and Buckingham in the 1620s provides the clearest evidence for James' homoerotic desires. During a protracted separation in 1623, letters between the two raced back and forth. These artful, self-conscious letters explore themes of absence, the pleasure of letters, and a preoccupation with the body. Familial and sexual terms become wonderfully intertwined, as when James greets Buckingham as "my sweet child and wife."

If you remember your history it was also one of the main reasons that the Cromwell and the Roundheads hated James and later killed his son Charles.

17. Fundies don't want to hear facts.
They only want to hear the sound of their own voices.

The only parts of the Bible they believe in are the parts that support their dogma.

21. I learned that the scribes were put to death if...
James didn't approve of their "translation;" hence, there are a zillion translation errors in that version because James was more interested in the mechanics of the poetry and the overall look of each page than he was in accuracy.

22. How charming!
I have held for years that the King James version only says what the translators thought King James would want to hear. And WOOMP! There it is!

"Enter into your closet" and pray in secret, indeed!

24. I've heard it said that Shakespear was on the committee...
Here's an interesting little factoid...

Shakespear was supposed to be 46 years old when the bible was translated (KJV). If you go to Psalm 46, and count down 46 words from the beginning, you come to the word SHAKE. Then if you count up 46 words from the end of the same psalm (excluding salah), you come to the word SPEAR. Combining the two you have SHAKESPEAR! Anagrams and word puzzles were extensively used in literature in those days to toy with the reader and also to hide important truths.

Interesting to say the least.

27. I've always thought that some of the Psalms in the KJV had a bardian touch
And maybe some of the Book of John.

I have heard arguments on both sides about King James' sexual orientation. I am not convinced one way or the other, so my guess is that like Shakespeare, he was bi.

28. People used to cheer:
"Elizabeth was our King; now James is our Queen!" whenever his coach went by (Adams, Robert M. Land and Literature of England, W.W. Norton and Company, London England - Sorry, can't remember the page reference) so it was quite well known.

I love pulling that little factoid out whenever I hear someone quote the KJV to knock homosexuals.

29. and it is my understanding
that there was some conflict between king james and the scholars that were doing the interpretation of the bible.

they couldn't outright oppose him, so they got back at him the only way they knew how, hence the leviticus, and other, abomination admonishments.

after all, david had a love for jonathan that exceeded the love of a woman.

just another "makes you go hmmmmmm" moment. huh?
