Jesus was a loser and a coward
http://yhwh.com/Thoughts/jesusloser.htm

snip - Can you believe this coward? This is shameful, really. And very un-Christian.

Here's what a real Christian does:

Sends their little boys and girls into a military to defend our Nation and way of life.
Supports a war on terrorism, to hunt out the evil scum and kill them.
Prays God will help the soldiers to find and kill all the enemy, as quickly as possible.

Frankly, I'm not sure these horrible passages in Matthew are even real. (Well, ok, they're in the other Gospels too, but they probably just copied from each other. Doesn't mean a thing.) I think they were probably put there by Satan to try to weaken us, and our true Christian resolve.

Just think if we had actually been practicing what this coward preached for these last 2000 years. No crusades (where the Real Church killed millions of the infidel Muslims, praise God.) No Lutheran sponsored Holocaust. The Roman empire would have turned into a peace-loving state when Constantine became emperor 1700 years ago. No American civil war, as the 2 Christian sides would have resolved their differences peacefully. It's inconceivable.

ENJOY - DUers!!!!

1. You know, you might want to put your subject line in quotes...
As it is it seems to imply that is your belief...(and is sure to show up on every RW website as "proof" of our Godlessness-- Many may not care, but I'm tired of this being tagged to us, by the nutcases and increasingly by the media echochamger.

7. I have to agree
I came here expecting something else, and a lot of others will.

9. Who cares if it shows up on a RW site
There is no winning over folks that frequent those sites anyway. I like the satifaction of sticking our collective finger in their eye.

11. Because this is inflammatory enough to move beyond a right wing site
And elsewhere. Mutating into "Democratic Underworld thinks that Jesus is a Coward" and so on.

You might not care about how we look, but others do.

13. I don't put much stock in "how we look"
You might, but the right is going to spin anything we say. So I say why bother with censoring ourselves just to please them.

14. Exactly... I don't care about the RW, but the OP subject line is highly
offensive to me and many other DUers. I wonder, does he/she give a damn about that?

2. Jesus also said
"Many will come in my name saying 'Lord, Lord," but their hearts are far from me."

"By their works you will know them." I think we do.

3. How can he blame all the evil doing and wars on Jesus? That's just
plain stupidity! People have their own free will! There are people on this earth who are false prophets (Smirking Chimp, for one), who twists Christ's teachings to suit their needs, i.e., to wage war! Jesus told us "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.", Matthew 7-15!

True Christians know that war is ungodly! This really upsets me!

4. I think Jesus is OVERRATED!
If you KNEW that yuo were the son of God and that the sacrifice of your life would save millions, you would have to be some kind of selfish asshole not to give it up, wouldn't you?

12. What I do get about the whole sacrifice thing
is that if you're the son of God, dying isn't such a big freaking deal, is it? I mean, really. I grew up in a very strict baptist household, and heard the story like a million times. What I never got was why it was such a big deal.

If God is omnipotent, which according to christianity, he is, then sacrificing your son, which you are about to raise from the dead anyway, doesn't amount to much. Not to me anyway.

I hope 1,000 years (yeah, like we're going to make it that far) from now school children will see christian myths just as we read greek and roman mythology today.

16. My apologies to DU
I thought most of everyone here would recognize satire. Did not mean to be inflammatory - I thought it was funny.

Geez - everyone seems to be so serious.....;(

17. yes, but....
satire about Jesus as being a coward is a bit much, HOWEVER, references to Jesus being FOR losers and cowards is right on, he/she didn't mean to be rude I'm thinking, it probably should be taken out for being flame bait. sarcasm about the church is great, but when it's directly about Christ, making fun of him is kinda hard, if you respect him, OR respect what other people's views are and don't want to mock someone's beliefs.

God bless...

Laughter is good for the soul, just go to msnbc.com and look at the who would bush kiss? STORY they put up!!! sooooo FUNNY, shocked it's there!

18. I agree...so many people in a pissy mood on this Friday morn...
That is obviously satire.

And people post thread headings all the time that annoy the hell out of me - that misrepresent the actual text to get attention.

But I don't cry about it!

Liberal weenies, indeed!

I (a Religion student) thank you!

It's not your fault that our school system has failed so miserably that people can't recognize satire--don't apologize.
