My 14year old daughter and some friends were at the local mall with an adult companion. They were posing and playing near/on those little kiddie rides some malls have, and taking pictures of each other with their cell phone cameras. A security guard approached them and told them that they couldn't do that because it was considered 'terrorist activity'. Can you believe that? I just talked to the supervisor of security who apologized, but did say that they are on higher alert since 9/11. I am still speechless. Slowly, but surely, our rights are being eroded away.

my husband/i took pix at our mall of the enormous "KOTEX FITS>>>PERIOD" banner that is hanging from the ceiling surrounded by christmas lights and it did occur to me that we might be questioned. (we had to take the pix to share this display of tackiness with friends) i am beginning to feel like Winston, the main character in '1984' who is always looking over his shoulder.
