Help me save my childhood home town from Wal-mart
http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_2466186

Yes, its in Utah and the Republicans will probably have their way with the open land. But What can I do? Can I start a petition and protest? I'm not sure where to start, any ideas would be helpful.

2. Talk with the local Chamber of Commerce
a lot of them are a bit concerned about what WalMart can mean for local businesses. Rotary and the Lions Club can also help, especially if you have sources that show the damage WalMart can do.

4. here's a flyer you could pass out
http://ideamouth.com/politics/walmartflyer.pdf

it's double sided, three flyers to a page.

it covers most of the basic points. we hand them out at protests out side of existing walmarts.

http://boycottwalmart.meetup.com

oh, if you go to http://boycottwalmart.meetup.com/1/about / there's a lot of links about why walmart is evil. you could pass those around.

6. I've got a flier
My kid put this together with a friend. They do regular pickets, with signs that say "Boycott Walmart, Ask Me Why" and when cars stop and ask why, they hand them one of these:

http://ideamouth.com/politics/walmartflyer.pdf (print front and back, cut into thirds)

It could make a good info sheet to hand out to the Chamber of Commerce members, and also you should speak at your next town meeting about it or if you can't do that, at least write letters to them each individually.

7. It isn't just liberals that are hurt by Walmart
You could probabaly get many Republicans to stop buying at Walmart if you tell them about the worldwide boycott of american products.

Get your whole town to only buy american-made products for christmas as patriotic americans and watch Walmart squirm:)

11. Best of luck...
after losing one of the few good jobs to be had in my town to downsizing, the lousy part time job I have now is one block from a Wal-mart that is being biggerered to a superstore. The place I work now may well go under, and I have to watch it coming every day.
