Who would be the legitimate president? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 11:04 PM by foreigncorrespondent
Serious question here guys.
We all know that Floria was handed to Bush* on a silver platter in 2000. So he took his thrown, and Gore the legitimate winner, never had the chance to take his rightful place.
Now it is four years later, and the evidence is mounting of yet another presidential election theft having taken place. This time Kerry won, but Bush* has once again taken his thrown, and Kerry the (will probably be proven) legitimate winner, probably won't be able to take his rightful place, simply because Bush* won't give up without a fight.
Once all is said and done, seriously, who would be the legitimate president of the U.S? Is it going to be Gore who won in 2000, or will it be Kerry?
On eidt: Typo! Silly me put an "s" where it didn't belong.

1. Depends on your definition. |

Theory-wise, Kerry would be the legitimate President-elect, having won the necessary votes and thus being the rightful leader. But constitutionally, the electors can vote for whomever they please, and if the Florida electors vote for Bush, that is their choice. Spirit of the law versus the letter of the law, basically.

2. If someone really wants to serve our nation |

They will not care if they are President. Those who semi-win will, in a way become quite powerful voices. They are unfettered by the Presidency and can speak up and say more than you would ordinarily think they could. Being President is quite a curse. Speaking for humanity is the ultimate service and probably in history will speak the loudest.
