Melee in Detroit.
Anyone catch that player/fan brawl tonight in Detroit? Easily the worst episode in recent sports history, if not ever in USA professional sport. I've been looking for a video link online, but haven't found it yet. Just turn on ESPN, you'll see it within 10 minutes probably...

I watched it live (at home, that is). It was pretty damn scary.

1. Details for those of us who missed it live or don't have cable?
I think I heard something about it, but nothing specific.

3. Sorry, there's lots of threads about this in other forums...
...I should have checked beforehand.

Anyway, you can read some details here:

6. It was a riot
A bit of a fight broke out between Ben Wallace and Ron Artest after a hard foul, while that was settling down some fan threw and hit Artest with a cup of something, he went into the stands, followed by another player, the fans were sucker punching both of them, somehow that shit got calmed down, then a fan goes ON THE COURT after Artest and the melee breaks out all over again.

Dozens of fans pushing, shoving, throwing beer and cokes on the Pacers as they left the court, a chair thrown...

Easily the worst episode of fan-player violence I've ever seen (short of European soccer hooliganism).

.. House and Senate.

It'll never happen though. DEMs are ass-kissing wimps and will continue to be blled by the 'pukes while we sit back and let them.

8. The US is uncivilized by definition with the Chimp at the helm
Every time I'm forced to return to that country, I see further deterioration, in infrastructure and intellect. When there are only pockets of a region that is 3 -1/2 million square miles large worth visiting, why bother visiting at all?

5. The guys on ESPN are blaming the fans
I saw the tap and Ron Artest and Jermaine ONeill should be arrested and thrown in Jail. They both unloaded punches on guys half their size, who at worst poured beer on them (maybe).

The media always sticks up for the rich and famous, doesn't it?

7. now THIS is funny . . .
thought I'd check out the Detroit Free Press for their take on the incident . . . when I Googled the paper, I learned that their URL is . . . are you ready? . . . www.freep.com . . . which I find rather hysterical . . . :+

anyhow . . . not much about the fight just yet . . . but I imagine their columnists will have a lot to say in the morning . . . here's what's available now . . .
