i'm very sad to see Tom Daschle go |
|
after Kerry/Edwards, Tom Daschle's loss was the most hurtful to me. i know many on here don't like him, but i always saw him as a good man who wanted to help people in his state and everywhere else. he came from a solid Republican state and before this loss he was able to come up with a small point victory. i thought this showed he really understood the people.
he was a champion for native americans. but under the bush administration and republican controlled senate they purposely prevented his bills to help native americans from getting through so they could hurt him with native american voters who would think Daschle had forgotten them.
Daschle stood up against the anti gay amendment that most in his state supported. he stood up for women's rights by fighting right wing judges and he stood up for the working people by going against Bush's tax cuts.
i don't know what Daschle will do now but i hope to see him back in public service in the future.

2. Actually Daschle had been able to |

beat hell out of his previous challengers. This thing with even moderate Democrats losing in red states, while it had been an ongoing problem, turned into a big one starting in 2002. The only think I can think to blame is 9/11, which Bush used to polarize the electorate.
And Democrats won't return the favor and kick out people like Snowe, Collins, and Chafee, so we end up losing more and more ground. As I look at 2006, I fully expect to lose more seats.

rolling over and assuming this is business as usual? It's not, folks.
Almost everywhere that has been looked into there has been evidence of election fraud. Almost all errors go to bu$h. Where is the outrage? For the most part, except for a few people, it's not even here on DU. Why?

8. Not "rolling over", but |
|
Look for Ohio to certify the election immediately after sorting out the provisional ballots.. Oncce certified, if the re-count happens it will be a "re-machine-counting" of ballots.. not a hand count.
The certification will stand, even if a few votes are changed.
There is NO WAY ON EARTH that the SOS of Ohio will "allow" the count to change the outcome.
Maybe years from now, someone with a conscience will step up and write a book or contact the media with a tell-all, but for now,. we are probably stuck with the loser we have squatting for another 4 years..
I also have a feeling that McCain "will" be the annointed one for '08, so look for him to have a bigger presence in the next few years,,
Additional voting reform will only amount to even MORE vapor-vote machines being installed.
I am thoroughly convinced that we will NEVER again "know" who won any election.. and that's just the way the repubes like it..

7. I was glad to see him go as Senate minority leader. |
|
But, we got another one just like him to roll over for the repugs.
