Its going to get ugly during the ** admin...fasten your safety belts |
|
I don't mean just on the federal level. Shrub thinks he has been given a mandate....but his roadies do too. They WON and they are STILL GLOATING. I do not think gloating is the right word for it. Whatever you call this exagerated victory dance the wingnuts are all doing, it is frightening. Praying that Gonzales gets appointed so "obscenity" and "fag marriage" get outlawed. Threatening liberals. Yesterday in class is probably the most chilling thing I have experienced so far.
A Georgia wingnut-in a masters program no less-got very hot under the collar when the teacher said the nicest city he had ever been to was New York. When I say hot under the collar, his face turned red and he was clearly about to expode with anger at this professor. But he knew the professor would rhetorically disassemble him if he said what he wanted to. So the professor was gone yesterday (the day after this little red face incident) and this guy goes into passive aggressive mode and writes this huge poem on the board. We have a quiz every Friday at the very beginning of class, and he left as soon as the quiz was over so that nobody would challenge him. This masterpiece in stereotyping was all about the crackpots who lived everywhere but the South. The flakes in the west, the "fake" people in the north east, etc. What he wrote praising the South-calling it dixieland, for instance-was so vitriolic that the one African American gentleman in the room was clearly offended. This poem wasn't racist, but it clearly glorified that Southern culture that embraces ignorance, racism, hateful religion, and ultra-conservative politics.
What does my little anecdote have to do with the price of tea in China? Sure, this guy has spouted off some nonsense about Lincoln being evil incarnate or whatever. One of those who refuse to stop fighting the Civil War. But since Shrub won the election, this guy has gotten more vocal, and we end up with this hateful poem on the board that he refused to answer for. I see similar vitriol in the opinion columns, on the street, and in the anecdotes like the one I have written about here. My suggestion is that if you are going to stay here in America, you better take Bette Davis's advice: "fasten your safety belts...its going to be a bumpy ride."

7. Hypno. It has gotten ugly. |
|
But they dumped us in the pot of cold water and turned the heat up slowly and we hardly notice the difference.
We said if Bush gets in there will be, Wars, Cronyism, Pollution, Economic Disaster....it has all come true and I think we are in for worse.

2 weeks ago I wrote a letter on how conservatives have framed social and other debates..It was answered this week with a letter that spewed venom, the Bush fan accused me of being "Full of Hate" told me I was a "Sore Loser" and should "move to Canada" and on and on and on... He asked if I was aware this was a Democracy and that Bush won by 3 million votes (which is only an approximately 2.5% lead over Kerry)...
his point being I presume that since Bush "won" I should shut up and keep my opinions (which were presented much more calmly and rationally that his by the way) to my self...

12. I assume the letter-writer shut up and kept his opinions to himself when |
|
Clinton won? Nah, I didn't think so. Two-faced, mealy-mouthed idiot! They're legion, aren't they? Your letter sounds like it was right on. Keep up the good work!

5. What if, what if someone, a brave individual with integrity, stood up and |
|
just said, "No, you DON'T have a mandate. What you have is a technical and numerical majority."
And that individual became a leader who stuck to the principles of democracy and the democratic party and used the democratic process to protest every unpalatable move that * made, and got others to join him or her?
What if --- aw, screw it. Tip O'Neill is dead.

15. What I mean is that it is not ugly now compared to how it is going to get |
|
I think America is going to be rolled back to a time way before the 1950's. Try the Victorian era with a little Nazi Germany thrown in. Big business ruling; the "armies of compassion" "freeing" nations; social conservatives, empowered by their "mandate," hunting down non-WASPS like pheasant. I think it is going to get very very VERY ugly.

8. The murder and assault rates spiked during the first * term. |
|
Of course, the dixiecrackers* are going to be empowered by a second term.
I have, however, been speaking out more when Republicans try to cut in lines, intimidate pedestrians, and gloat about W by waving the 3 fingers around.
And more and more people are speaking out every day, too.

Is that true? If you have a link I'd like it. Plus, this fits nicely with the recent rise in violence at sporting events!

I think the North should have totally Iraqized the South after the Civil War ...crush and kill anything that moved down to the bedrock. Look what we got for not doing that!
(Not really I just like to use Red State thinking and toss it back at them.)

I have the same sad feeling. Most of me feels,,,, Bring-em On! But, I don't want to see good people get hurt. We have been taunted, lied about, provoked. And now, to regain our honor, our freedom, and stand up for what is right, we must head down a dark road. I hope there is a light to guide us!

My dad was from Savanna and his 4 brothers never talked to him again after he married a 'yanky' ( my mom ). Grandma was pretty nice but I never saw anyone else from that side of the family. That was 1960.

16. My ancestors were half and half in the Civil War |
|
I had an ancestor who died in a Columbus, OH Yankee prison camp.
I had another who was a Confederate Captain.
I may well be related to Jeff Davis and R.E. Lee.
My GGG Grandparents lived in DC & were southern sympathizers in the Civil War.
I am GLAD the Union won that war.
