Love it or leave it
The two models of western civilization are hurtling away from each other.

The American model is one of corporate control where the representatives we vote for are no more than the CEO's for multinational interest, and have the ethic of a black widow. All social services are approaching the threat of cancellation to make way for a survivalists tribe of egoists who worship themselves and acknowledge their perfection through goods purchased and a constant reminder of Jesus love. All outside the comfort of the Bell curve will not be tolerated. The lies are revolting. The propaganda is thick as the entire corporate control of the media is moments away. If a Martian watched enough TV, they would come to the conclusion that Americas greatest enemy is Liberalism.

The European model is fashioned more from a humanists standpoint. Education systems and the health of the populace are given great importance. They have erased borders and have a single currency in defining solidarity. They will not allow biblical interpretations to sneak into the political arena. They have a respect for the environment and a willingness to be content with what they have.

My hope is that the European model is very successful. The world is rejecting the American model. American propagandist/corporatist are giving us Europe as a neo-enemy. I think this is the last stand for Americas world dominationists. The edges of empire are hard to control and costly in terms of lives and resource. The soviets learned the hard way. America is next.

1. Well put!
the Europeans have learned through the bitter experience of a series of wars that the earth is fragile, that cooperation is better than competition, and that making sure your citizens are contented and happy is a good way to make sure peace reigns. They know that corporations are a necessary evil, but that they can be contained via regulations. Like you, I see the US model as a dinosaur, on its way out. I just hope that Bush's mishandling doesn't result in more death and destruction. Sadly, I think it will.

Europe has decided that the millions upon millions of lives and the untold social and economic cost involved in not forming a common union of ideas will doom them to further wars against their neighbors. each death from ordnance buried in the fields from ww1 reminds people of their ancestors folly

3. It's Funny
How economic collapse, losing all your children to a senseless war, and poisoning the very land you live on will change your attitude. Maybe we will become more like them BEFORE we have to go through all that shit, but I doubt it

Unfortunately, here in the UK, our government seems to have volunteered us to be one of the American empire's "edges".
