Okay, time for a simple, civilized discussion
I am for Kucinich because everything that comes out of his mouth could have come out of my head. I don't push his candidacy, and I don't bash any other candidates.

Try this:

Say something good about a candidate you are not supporting (currently).

I'll start:

Kerry is an intelligent man that has, yes, been in the loop for a heck of a long time and knows how to speak without alienating anyone. He's a great politician.

Dean is a man of integrity and speaks the truth. He may get tripped up every now and then by a right-wing media host, but that's only because he needs practice.

Anything good to say about a candidate you don't yet support?

7. I'm torn too. Several of the candidates seem super qualified.
Dean, or Kerry. I really haven't made up my mind yet. I do like Kucinich, but I think the argument that he can't win is compelling in his case.

I'd accept Gephart easily, same with Edwards and Graham.

I will never, ever, not in my lifetime, vote for Lieberman.

9. That's what I'm thinking, but
if it actually came down to it, I would close my eyes, hold my breathe and vote for Lieberman. The alternative is too awful to contemplate.

18. Well, here's the problem with voting for a Repug in Dem clothing
Say he wins. Then say his policies are, optimistically speaking, a teeny bit better than Whistle Ass' but the general direction of things--continuing war, continuing favors for cronies, religious self-righteousness, etc., etc., but especially the war-mongering. What happens then, if Vietnam is any guide, is incredible disillusionment. Right now, we are very angry, but we're not over the edge because we still have hope that things can be turned around. With Vietnam, it was the liberals who started the fucking war. The electoral alternative was even worse, because they were more believable when they attacked the anti-war demonstrators as scum. When both sides don't make sense, what is the alternative? It's not pretty, and it's not worth the teeny bit of relief we MIGHT get from a Lieberman presidency. I'd rather have the iron fist exposed than gloved in silk.

I mean, that's what has been driving me nuts since the impeachment, and it's what is giving me hope now. The Dems and the press said nothing, nada, zilch, null set about the turkey in the White House. I felt like I was going crazy all the time. Now there are Dems and some media personalities who are fighting back, and at least I have some hope--not for mild changes around the fringes, but that we can turn the country around--180 degrees--get our democracy back, get back the goodwill of the international community, continue to try to improve the lot of people in this country.

Never, never, ever, never--I will not vote for Lieberman.

20. On the bright side, though
If Lieberman actually beat Bush in the general election, that would mean a lot of people also vote down the line for a change. Senate, House, State houses, county commissioners for crying out loud. It would not be what I would hope for, but it would be a great response to fascism.

23. Point taken on that.
I'm afraid my mind is pretty closed on voting for Lieberman though. Do Socialists ever run candidates? I'd vote Socialist, if I were given a Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dumber choice.

Another point for Lieberman--he's not a moron. Not brilliant, but certainly not 3 standard deviations below every other college grad like Whistle Ass.

2. I like anyone who is against Bush.
Frankly, one of these boys will get the nomination. Who it might
be yet, only the electorate will tell. But whoever it is, they
will get my vote. The alternative is unthinkable.

10. I just read an anecdote that confirms that
Holy Joe said he once brought a friend to his house and the friend later said that after meeting his parents he imagined that when Joe was growing up his parents greeted him every day with a standing ovation.

I thought that was pretty funny, I have friends whose parents I could say that about. :-)

17. I liked the way Kerry came out swinging against the NRA.
Until we can overcome terror at home, we can never be able to overcome it abroad. I liked Wesley Clark saying that if someone wants an assault rifle they should be in the army.

11. I like Kucinich.....
I don't think he gets the respect he deserves. He speaks from the heart and with real conviction. He's a champion for the working class and would roll up his sleeves and go to work for us. I like him and Mosley-Braun alot. They always come in first or second in any online select poll I've taken, whoever comes in 2nd is always tied with Dean. I am favoring Dean, but "Anybody but Bush" will be get my vote in the election. Dennis is a great guy and a politician we can all be proud of to represent us anytime, anywhere.

Gephardt- a good friend of labor

13. Well, I'm told that John Edwards has minty fresh breath . . .
I think any one of the nine would be at worst a quantum improvement over the current squatter in the White House.

Of course a cockroach would be a huge improvement over the walking turd who currently pretends to be President, so maybe that's damning with faint praise.

I will happily vote for whomever the Democrats nominate. Every candidate (yes even--gulp, grimace--Lieberman) has strengths. Once the ruling junta is deposed, we can devote our efforts to reshaping the Democratic Party into a political force that better represents the views of its constituency.

I too support Kucinich and I believe his ideas rise above the others, but I'm heartened that the party is offering a slate of contenders who exhibit such amazing talent, passion, compassion, experience, creativity, inspirational oratory, and commitment to the ideals of our party.

Any one of these candidates would wipe the floor with the idiot Bush in a fair election. Too bad we don't have fair elections in America anymore.

14. Hear!!! Hear!!!!
It won't matter if we have fair elections if the people overwhelmingly vote for the party of conscience. The machines can't be rigged to give every other vote to the evildoers. The Democratic party is not anywhere near perfect, but if we of left leanings give our support in large numbers, with information distributed to the rest, we can not be stopped!

19. OK, I'll play.
I have never said anything bad about anyone's candidate. I guess I can take it one step farther and say something nice about a couple I am not supporting.

Dean - terrific energy, has energized the Democratic base. Has tapped into the anger that a lot of us feel.

Kucinich - one of the last of the true progressives. Love his passion.

Sharpton - He says things that no one else will say. I have to admire him for that. He draws people into the political process who might otherwise just ignore it.

Edwards is down to earth, sincere with real drive.

Kucinich, you just gotta love Kucinich. The soul of our party.

Sharpton, a wit that cuts to the core of every issue.

Carol - what a smile.

Any one of them has my vote in 2004!

25. I can say a few good things
Kucinich - Does not seem fake and contrived to me in his beliefs like a lot of politicians. Has his core values and promotes them. Seems nice in person, gets people fired up.

Lieberman- Votes the right way most of the time, is a dependable Senate vote for the Dems.

26. Dean, Edwards, Kerry and even Graham
Dean knows how to express his ideas in a way that motivates people.

Edwards made an excellent speech about the unfairness of taxing wages more heavily than income, such as capital gains and inheriting estates, that does not come from work.

Kerry did a good job, overall of defending himself against the Meet the Press attack dog.

I read a Washington Post article that convinced me that Graham, believe it or not, has a wicked sense of humor! I forget what he said exactly, but he was making fun of a book about the Bush Administration!
