What's the point of having two parties now?
I hear all this talk of moving to the right and its getting EXTREMELY frustrating. I have nothing against moderates. I acknowledge that most people aren't extreme either way but I don't want the official party platform to move to the right. There's no point in having two parties (which in itself is wrong as there should be a variety of viable parties) if their positions are so similar that you can't tell the difference. It's called an opposition party and point is to prove OPPOSITION not to role over to to try to be more like the majority party. We might as well have one party. Long live Democracy!

1. you can't tell the difference between the two parties?
is that literally true, or is it hyperbole?

4. I can now
but there have been so many calls for the party to move to the right. I also don't see many of the Dems fighting. I know that they're in a bad position and they can't really do much but they can at least try to give the impression that they're fighting rather than rolling over. They've been tagged as obstructionists without that being true. I figure they might as well be obstructionists if that's what they're being accused of.

2. The East Bloc also had minority parties
which gave the appearance of representive government. Nevermind that they were rubberstamps.

That's the future of the Democratic Party.

8. I also think of Mexican "democracy" for much of the 20th Century.
The PRI's techniques for maintaining power were cruder than the those of 21st Century Republicans, but perhaps the same result.

10. Nope
In the future the Democratic party and liberalism will be known as Goldsteinism.

3. Thanks for FINALLY asking the question!
Contrary to many on board.I have a tough time seing any differences. They BOTH support BIG business and corportate donations. After the promotion of Harry Reid as OUR minority leader; I see ven less. He is PRO-LIFE and has a 40% voting record with ACLU.WHY should I support the party that no longer supports me?

I wish DK had the BA*ls to run independent.

11. Reid isn't looking too promising
I'm gonna wait before criticizing him until he's on the job for more time, though.

7. The differences continue to grow smaller.
Both are under the thumb of the monied interests of the corporations. The repugs are just more openly happy about it. The Dems are lining up to get their share of the pie.
