Half the country is being duped by corporate whores, political scum, and evangelical bigots

on the high seas when a ship was in distress, they flew their colors upside down. Same message during Viet Nam-Walt Kelly in Pogo even had a strip about it way back when.

8. Why is the US Flag displayed Upside Down? |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-20-04 04:15 PM by Turn CO Blue
The upside down U.S. flag is an official signal of distress. It is not meant to be, and is not officially recognized as any type of disrespect when so displayed for the right reasons. To the contrary, here is the relevant part of the US Code of Laws regarding how to fly the flag when in distress:
THE FLAG CODE Title 36, U.S.C., Chapter 10 As amended by P.L. 344, 94th Congress Approved July 7, 1976
§ 176. Respect for flag: No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
___________________________________________________________ I believe the current situation in our country is indeed a time of "dire distress"; wouldn't you agree?

it is an international distress signal. my flags went upside down on the morning of Nov. 3rd, 2004. i am having trouble extending the effort to fly them at all, even upside-down, that is how low i feel about my country right now. by the way, some asshole in my neighborhood decided to right the ship of state by stealing my porch flag.......but i have replaced it, with one purchased at Sears, not Wal-freaking-Mart. i want to put one on my car, but i just had 1400 dollars of damage fixed on the car from another asshole who keyed it. Free-Speech is NOT FREE folks, get used to it.

9. Talked to a freeper the other day |
|
he was an insurance salesman who came to talk to my boss. He had W4 stickers on his car, so I knew where he was coming from. After the boss left, I helped him find his next appointment (he was from out of town and borrowed one of our county maps). He went on about how sorry he was about insurance costs going out of control. I smiled and quietly told him it didn't surprise me, as the insurance and drug industries were the leading lobbyists in DC and had been for years. Told him to read "Who Rules America", which came out about 1968, and start finding out things. He looked rather surprised and a bit shocked.

i love the shock and fear of realization dawning on their faces. and if it is followed by a look of agonizing guilt, it's like whipped cream and a cherry on top to me.
