Abu Ghraib analyzed by a CIA MKULTRA survivor
A four-part reflection on torture of Iraqi prisoners by survivor of CIA trauma-induced mind control, Kathleen Harris. An interesting and valuable perspective, I think.

Our stories are no less real than those of the Iraqi prisoners. Unfortunately, we are less likely to be believed by fellow citizens because our abuse was perpetrated – most often – by government employees within the borders of our countries. We were innocent civilians, not war prisoners. And what was done to most of us was much worse than what most of the Iraqi prisoners have unfortunately endured. (This is like comparing apples and oranges; both experiences are solid and real and directly related. Therefore, such a comparison is really a matter of the degree of trauma and torture and sexual degradation experienced by each survivor. Regardless of the degree, however, trauma is trauma. Every trauma is horrible, whether it lasts a day or a year or for decades.) The psychological scars and other results of the traumas we’ve endured are just as legitimate and consistent as the visible and invisible scars of the Iraqi prisoners, who will carry them in their minds and bodies – some, for the remainder of their lives. Deep humiliation and terror and rage cannot be conveniently erased when one is freed by ones tormentors.

As you read North American survivors’ reports, I challenge you to compare them with the reports of prisoner abuse and murder that are coming out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Remember, we made our stories public long before these revelations began emerging from Iraq. As you compare the reports, you may be horrified to discover that this kind of sadistic abuse is not an aberration. It is, in fact, historical and ongoing.

...

Some survivors have reported that these reports and photos triggered strong flashbacks and powerful emotions that temporarily disabled them, leaving them unable to socialize and perform life duties as well as they normally might.

My own reactions were equally powerful. I cried more during this past two months, than I have in years. I experienced strong bouts of depression and alternating periods of great manic energy. Both seemed to be generated by my strong feelings of outrage: our government is still hurting others in some of the same ways that we North American mind-control survivors have been hurt!

1. All that torture and still no WMDs.
Gee. You'd think with all the humiliation, mind control or no-mind control, we were TRYING to get the world's Muslims to HATE America.

Good point, Ms. Harris. The MK ULTRA gang is in business. But for another purpose. They are working us up for World War III. When it's over, the only ones left will be those fortunates with the means to buy a Swiss chalet or access to Rev Moon's jungle redoubt in Paraguay. May the radiation reach them, as well.

3. I purchased Kathleen Sullivan's book a few weeks ago.
It's entitled Unshackled. She's a particularly literate survivor. (That helps to make the inevitible "she must crazy" accusations less persuasive.) But to anyone acquainted with survivors' stories, hers is horrifically familiar.

I'll bump it up my wish list.

By the way, did you see this story on my blog? Possible support for Cathy O'Brien's allegations about Cheney.

12. Sneer's a deviated prevert. A big deviated prevert.
Most interesting. Dunno if the story's is true. Based on the woman's telling, I'd give it a very high probability, going back to those stories described in "The Gunderson Report."

http://www.the7thfire.com/Politics%20and%20History/gunderson_report.htm

The woman's report also matches with Sneer's psychotic personality. The fact the guy finds anything funny, or that can give him a woody, when the nation has made war on an innocent people speaks volumes about what kind of heartless NAZI prick he really is.

9. CIA Mind-Control Program
The idea was to create a Manchurian Candidate -- a programmable, controllable assassin. "Things didn't work out and the program was scrapped" after many innocent people's lives were ruined.

Of course, none of this would be known were it not for Sen. Frank Church investigating the CIA and Jimmy Carter's presidency forcing some openness to the sordid program, the files of which were accidently left un-destroyed.

10. Of course we have to take the CIA's word
Edited on Sat Nov-20-04 10:35 PM by Minstrel Boy
that it didn't work and was scrapped.

CIA whistleblower Victor Marchetti said that was untrue. That it was successful and ongoing. And then there's the testimony of the victims, and sometimes the evidence of success. (Exhibit A, I would say, is Sirhan Sirhan.)

MKULTRA: CIA Mind Control

by Jon Elliston
Dossier Editor
pscpdocs@aol.com

For many Americans, the 1950s were a docile decade. In U.S. history books, the period is mostly portrayed as a mellow, orderly one, especially in light of the social upheavals that followed in the 1960s. But for the CIA, the "I Like Ike" years were packed with adventure and action, much of it conducted outside of the public's view. Few programs were sheltered with more secrecy than the Agency's mind control experiments, identified together with the code-name MKULTRA.

Concerned about rumors of communist brainwashing of POWs during the Korean war, in April 1953 CIA Director Allen Dulles authorized the MKULTRA program, which would later become notorious for the unusual and sometimes inhumane tests that the CIA financed. Reviewing the experiments five years later, one secrecy-conscious CIA auditor wrote: "Precautions must be taken not only to protect operations from exposure to enemy forces but also to conceal these activities from the American public in general. The knowledge that the agency is engaging in unethical and illicit activities would have serious repercussions in political and diplomatic circles."

Though many of the documents related to MKULTRA were destroyed by the CIA in 1972, some records relating to the program have made it into the public domain, and the work of historians, investigative reporters, and various congressional committees has resulted in the release of enough information to make MKULTRA one of the most disturbing instances of intelligence community abuse on record. As writer Mark Zepezauer puts it, "the surviving history is nasty enough."

The most notorious MKULTRA experiments were the CIA's pioneering studies of the drug that would years later feed the heads of millions: lysergic acid diethylamide, or LSD. The CIA was intrigued by the drug, and harbored hopes that acid or a similar drug could be used to clandestinely disorient and manipulate target foreign leaders. (The Agency would consider several such schemes in its pursuit of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who they wanted to send into a drug-induced stupor or tirade during a public or live radio speech.) LSD was also viewed as a way to loosen tongues in CIA interrogations.

In his thorough book on MKULTRA and similar projects, The Search for the "Manchurian Candidate," John Marks reports that most of the CIA researchers tried LSD themselves. In fact, an early phase of the experiments was probably the setting for the first acid trip in the United States -- experienced by a courageous CIA man no less!

8. virtually all of the official records were destroyed
on order of CIA Director Richard Helms. What exists and has been disclosed was through oversight.

The official story is bad enough. The unofficial story, told by survivors and still denied by perpetrators, is far worse.

11. In 1977 the CIA notified 80 academic institutions that they had been
unwittingly involved in mind control research. There were at least 149 sub-projects at that time.

But the US mind control "research" started as a Richard McGarrah Helms proposal that was approved by Allen Dulles in April 1953.

Here is one story from that epoch-The Frank Olson case.

It is much worse now.

Then there is the recently announced "perception management" program on Iraq sponsored by this administration.

15. How it relates to each and every one of us and Them.
The Bush Empire

by Charles Shaw

How four generations of arms, oil, fascism, and US Govt. defiance made America's First Family

"Almost everybody knows that George W. is the son of the 41st President. But fewer know that the family has wielded power in corporate boardrooms and capital corridors for a century and a half. On his mom's side, he's related to Franklin Pierce, the 14th President (1853-57). His dad's paternal grandfather, Samuel P. Bush, was an Ohio steel executive and the first president of the National Association of Manufacturers. Samuel's son, Prescott, became a Connecticut senator. Prescott's wife, Dorothy, was the daughter of George Herbert Walker, a co-founder of Brown Brothers Harriman, the oldest and largest private investment house on Wall Street. The Walker family helped finance the construction of Madison Square Garden and the Belmont Park racetrack--and later owned a big chunk of the New York Mets"
--Business Week, Nov 15, 1999

The previous quote embodies the public face of the Bush family, one of the richest and most influential American political dynasties in all our history. But it is almost shocking how little people actually know about the Bush family, particularly the history of the Bush men. I thought we might look beneath the veneer at the true face of America's political dynasty.

I am going to open with a story that is guaranteed to blow your hair back. This is a story that has been impossible to confirm in the mainstream press. Of course, this is part of the whole story, and why curiously the story keeps surfacing and disappearing all over the Internet. At the very least, this story is referred to enough to qualify as a modern legend. This is the extraordinary story of a dinner date that was scheduled to happen on March 31st 1981, the day of the strange assassination attempt on the life of former President Ronald Reagan. What should have been the biggest story of the 1980's seems to have been wiped clean from history, systematically prevented from ever again being mentioned by corporate media.

Held at the home of Neil Bush, the son of George Herbert Walker Bush, who himself was the very ambitious former CIA director and current Vice President, the guest of honor at the dinner party (which was quickly cancelled after news of the failed attempt on the life of the President), was Scott Hinckley, the brother of John Hinckley, the man who just that afternoon shot President Ronald Reagan, coming one half-inch from killing him.

A half-inch from putting George H.W. Bush, into the White House.

The Bush team's response to this chilling revelation on the planned dinner date was to barricade themselves behind a wall of the biggest PR Firms in the nation and issue the following statement "This horrible coincidence has been devastating to the Bush Family. Our condolences go out to all involved. And we hope to get the matter behind us as soon as possible." (sic)

16. The CIA and Its Secret Experiments America’s Great State Secret

Gordon Thomas

MINDFIELD

· Sensational never-seen-before documents from inside the White House, CIA and other agencies.

· Reveals the documentary evidence that links US Vice-President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to the cover-up of the death of top CIA scientist, Frank Olson.

· Explains how the CIA financed a ruthless and systematic assault of the human psyche – using a British-born psychiatrist to spearhead the assault.

· Names other world renowned physicians who were involved in the most sinister research programme ever created by any United States government – and its secret partner – the British government.

· Reveals how a woman was programmed to become a CIA assassin.

· Describes how a CIA chemist was murdered by his own colleagues after he had turned to the one man he thought he could trust – a London psychiatrist engaged in similar work.

· Reveals how “expendables” – the CIA generic name for those selected for killing – were secretly murdered after they had been experimented on in Europe.

· Describes how the CIA used prostitutes and mental patients in other experiments.

· Explains how the CIA deliberately pioneered the drug culture whose effects are still with us.

· Reveals how the CIA agent selected to monitor the experiments eventually died at the hands of a physician steeped in the methods perfected by the CIA.

· Identifies how the CIA experiments are still carried on in secret establishments in Israel and China.

· Uncovers CIA terminal experiments on Vietcong prisoners in Vietnam.

· Publishes the CIA Manual of Assassination – a shocking document describing how to commit state-approved murder.

MINDFIELD

All this and more is supported by a wealth of never before published evidence; personal interviews with those doctors involved in the work that mocks their oath to do no harm to their patients.

It is also the story of a brave man, William Buckley, the longest serving agent in the CIA, until his own terrible death at the hands of a doctor trained in the techniques the CIA pioneered. Buckley was a close personal friend of the author.

MINDFIELD

It is a shattering account of how the dark side of science collaborated with sheer lunacy to create a chilling tour de force of terror. Based upon impeccable research, it shows how our elected governments lied to the people for over fifty years – and continues to obscure the truth. It is a story of murder, inhuman experiments and torture.

MINDFIELD

Critical acclaim from Victims and Victimisers.

“I am a survivor of the MK-ULTRA programme. It was run by the CIA and designed to control a subject’s mind and will to the point where he or she would become an assassin. To achieve this I was forced to undergo extensive drugging, electro-shock, sensory deprivation, hypnosis, partake in pornographic films, act as a prostitute and much else. I finally have realised I cannot keep hiding that it has left me only a shell of life to live. In going public I want to end the fear all survivors of MK-ULTRA live with.”

Kathleen Ann Sullivan

“Mindfield is filled with the same intrigue and political adventures found in the best spy novels. Only Mindfield is true. I know because I was involved in the CIA mind-control experiments. This book has been meticulously researched and penetrates much of the mystery that shrouds the CIA. It reveals the agency as it was and as it remains: cold and dedicated to its own self-designed purpose. The pages of this book are filled with the correct phrases, the right quotations and accurate assumptions honed by clear professional judgement.”

Alexander Legault
Former US Naval Intelligence/Operations

“Meticulously researched, Mindfield is a deeply disturbing story of hideous government experiments using drugs and behavioural modification. Teaching hospitals on both sides of the Atlantic were used. Many of the doctors who performed those experiments remain in high office today and still conduct those experiments with impunity. Mindfield is a terrifying warning how easy it is for elected governments to sanction secret experiments to control human behaviour. Gordon Thomas has meticulously taken us from incredulity to awareness of the Machiavellian lengths our governments go to in our unsuspecting name. This remarkable book is essential reading for all those in a trusted role to care for people. In every sense it is an outstanding text that reveals the darker side of medicine.”

Professor Anne White
M.C.S.P. Bsc M.D. F.R.C.P.A.
Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine
Department of Psychiatry
McMaster University, Canada

“Riveting! A great read and very enjoyable.”

Dick Cheney is the public mastermind for the BFEE. Once I imagined he works for a secret and satanic elite. Today I'm convinced of it. Did ya ever hear of Operataion MONARCH?

This stuff is almost too scary to think about. These are some very twisted people. Satanic may be too kind an adjective.
