Photo: President Bush assaults woman in Chilean fracas
I don't know what they call this in Chile, but we call this assault in the United States and Bush would be charged with a felony here for this assault on a woman (in red) which was clearly caught on film. Assault is OK for the President but not for NBA basket ball players?

1. No one is more offended by W than myself but.....
If we distort reality than we are no better than they are. I saw the video with my own eyes and...W actually did a pretty gutsy thing by rescuing his Secret Service detail from getting roughed up by Chilean security.
Now that I have told the truth I'm going to throw up.

7. Yes. Please, don't let us start lying about facts like the Repukes.
The lying little deserter was NOT assaulting some woman, he was trying to pull his Secret Service guy through the Chilean security detail.

The bastard is evil enough, we don't need to make up shit about him.

12. If you touch, shove punch someone without their permission it is assault
regardless of your reasons for doing so.

19. no, not if she was part of the fracas ...
he was merely pulling his lead SS agent free of the struggle that should never have occurred anyway.

13. Isn't she part of his SS detail?
I think I've seen her before. I know I've seen her hovering near him a couple of times, always a few paces ahead or behind.

20. He wears a bullet proof vest
The guy wears a bullet proof vest for obvious reasons. It would be silly to put a transmitter in a area up between the shoulders. There are more inconspicuous areas on the body to hide these items.

3. pushing through a crowd isn't assault
Bush is responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths in Iraq, we don't need to exaggerate to say how bad Bush is.

8. You can be charged with assault for touching someone here in the US
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 12:59 AM by OutsourceBush

15. Sanity please

Yes, you can be charged with assault in the US for touching someone with your little finger, depending on the circumstances. But in a crowd engaged in a scrum, bumping someone is going to happen.

If it were otherwise, I'd be guilty of assault hundreds of times over, as would anyone who's ever been to a crowded bar, sports event, or grocery store at 5 PM even.

Non-starter in this case.

16. That seems to depend on who you are, where you are & how rich you are

On the one hand, this well known Hawaiian surfer thug isn't sweating any charges... even despite having committed an assault which was recorded on video in front of 100's of people.
http://satanjr.com/1004/surf_crap.wmv <5mB>

On the other hand, I read (here recently) in USA you can get a 55 year sentence for a marijuana dealing/concealed handgun charge.

Then again, on the other hand (the hand lying next to a rotting dismembered corpse on the side of the road in Iraq)... well, need I say more... US CITIZENS CAN MURDER UNARMED CIVILIANS & WOUNDED UNARMED FREEDOM FIGHTERS IN A FOREGIN COUNTRY!

... there's your smoking gun. Bush is guilty of assault all right, but conveniently the semantics of our language change in "war time" --> it becomes "a military assault on insurgent forces". Someone's going to get a medal and not a prison sentence out of that assault.

They did what we couldn't, embarrass the POS and make him look at how much he is hated. I am half Chilean and proudly so today not that I'm not ever, just more so today.
