they had a bill that was literally a stack of paper 2 feet high, and gave the Democrats only 20 minutes to read it before voting for it.
all written behind closed doors.

I thought the latest amendment, the one Madison wrote in 1789 and was floating around for 200+ years before suddenly getting ratified in the 1990s, said that an election had to intervene between a pay-raise bill and that pay raise taking effect. If they passed it after the election, it can't take place until 2007, right?
I mean, it's not like elected officials can just up and ignore the Constitution, right? Right? Hey, someone throw me a line here!
