WTF???! Guess what the name of *s new yacht is?
(The one that got stuffed into the Omnibus bill yesterday)

The fuckin Presidential Yacht SEQUOIA!!!(Voting Machine Company)

One expenditure buried in the bill is $2 million for the Navy to repurchase the presidential yacht Sequoia. The yacht was built in 1925 and first used by President Herbert Hoover. In the throes of Watergate, President Richard M. Nixon cruised the Potomac at night on the boat and brooded on his fate.

My God, does it come with a dog named Diebold??

1. I'm so happy we have a Presidential Yacht again!
I was always upset when I heard that Carter sold it. :grr:

I think the President should have a yacht to cruise the Potomac on. :)

We got rid of it in the first place because it was rotting away and cost too much to keep up. Hell even the Queen got rid of her yacht. I guess it must have been one of those cocktails parties that brought this to light.

The sad thing is where I live at a historic site the National Purple Heart Museum is still not completed due to a lack of about 2 million in funding.

This is faith-based yacht brokerage. If the the "President" wants it and has the money, they will sell, they just haven't thought it through yet. Sort of like giving the asshole the authority to start a war but hoping he wouldn't.

On a serious note: I wonder just WHO the "private group" is that is selling the Sequoia? Nice profit, I'd say. Must be a story there!

"One expenditure buried in the bill is $2 million for the Navy to repurchase the presidential yacht Sequoia.....
When President Jimmy Carter was trying to rid the White House of an imperial image, he had the yacht sold to a private group for $286,000.

This tub will be a security nightmare. It will be expensive to operate and maintain. Security will have to be in, above, and under the water.

I guess once he got the gold crown in the Lincoln bedroom, he wanted a yacht.

A new 100-foot Hatteras would be a much better investment--lower maintenance costs, no restoration costs, less pollution. And it will help the NC economy for them to buy a new boat.

So I wrote and asked them to go this way.

Pickles - Ginger (I know, :puke:, but I needed another woman)

Rummy - The skipper. The 'rummy' part just goes with the skipper of a boat, especially one that is going to get lost forever.

59. SERIOUSLY. The Sequoia is a part of our history, and should

be donated to a museum.

I have conflicted feelings about this bill to buy back the Presidential yacht. I'd be amazed if Georgie intends to sail around in it (since it's really old, and had to have major reconstruction) -- BUT, my point is that as Americans, we haven't been at our best preserving historical artifacts and buildings.

Yes, I understand that there are other more pressing budgetary items! But remember, Georgie is looking for legacy-making moves here in his (gulp) last term.

The Sequoia BELONGS IN A NATIONAL MUSEUM (not with a private group and not with the sitting President) for the citizens to see (or not see) as they choose.
