When Bush is done with his second term, I expect to see the following; |
|
1.A country in which the top 30-40% of people will have private medical plans with various levels of care. The elite, of course, will get the best in private exclusive hospitals with the best doctors and nursing care. The second tier will get the next level and so on until we will reach ordinary folks who will have to scrape by with interns and residency physicians with little or no experience.Ironically, these people will pay more for the third rate care they receive.
2.Those who are misdiagnosed or have wrong treatments or surgeries carried out on them will be limited to collect a maximum of 250K to 500 K from the doctor's malpractice insurance.
3.Social security and Medicare will be abolished, replaced by private insurance or retirement plans that you "manage".Only those who are employed will be able to put away the money needed for their retirement and medical needs,if inflation permits them to save for these contingencies.
4.All student aid and loans will be eliminated and the children of the rich will be able to gain a big advantage over the poor except for the exceptioally bright students.
5.Even students who graduate with honors from good schools will have to fight hard for the few jobs left over after many corporations pack their bags and go to India, China, or wherever.
6.Abortion will be outlawed and many young girls will die even if they are raped because back alley abortions will make huge amounts of money.
7.There will be efforts to declare Christianity the "Official " religion of the U.S. and English the official language.
8.Poor youg people will be lining up at Army recruiting centers all over the country to enlist for the next war Bush embarks on.

1. And hey, if we are going to allow foreigners to run for POTUS |
|
...we might as well get rid of the pesky two-term limit on that useless Constitution.

We will have had another 9/11 type terrorist attack, martial law will have been declared and the 2008 election will be indefinitely postponed.
Feeling particularly pessimistic this evening...

4. I agree with many points of your list. |
|
And they are on the mark. I see things as a little more extreme, so here are my additional prognostications:
1. The Radical, Right-wing Religious movement will expand and grow, (now that they are over the 50% mark) and become more dominant and Fascist in its tone and actions.
2. The current penal system will be replaced gradually by more simplistic and draconian Mosaic-style punishments and resolutions.
3. Bush will rule America for the rest of his life.
4. Mass media will continue to mutate into a more powerful, pervasive propaganda tool that will essentially be a megaphone for the propagation of the policies of the Regime.
5. America, while internally growing more Fascist, will also increase its Imperialistic, Empire building thrust into the Middle-East as it takes control of the oil resources before Peak Oil and its ramifications become clearly obvious to the masses.
6. America will suffer from intense and divisionary internal fighting within the ranks of the Ruling Party as it's more extreme factions turn their religious fervor on the materialistic ones.
7. Economically, the US will become increasingly more Third-world as far as the larger percentage of its population is concerned.
8. The Internet will come under some form of politcal attack due to its uncontrollable capacity to counter State propaganda. Restrictions and controls will become mandatory.
And that is just my short list. I have left of out some of the more extreme and apalling aspects.

6. I probably should add that the dollar will be devalued by more than 30%. |
|
This will cause raging inflation of over 15% per year.many people will become destitute with no safety net under them.homelessness will become rampant. Many of our corporations will go belly up and whoever survives will do so only because the Chinese, Japnese or the Indians pick them up for ten cents on the dollar.
But we will still be kicking Ayrab ass, if that makes us feel any better.
