Why Hillary isn't running |
|
I think there are several reasons Hillary Clinton is not running, even though she would probably have an easy time to win the nomination.
1. She made a promise to her supporters to serve out her term in the Senate.
2. The timing is wrong, it's too soon for her to run with the Clinton administration ending only 3 years ago.
3. Strategy- Unfortunately, Bush probably still has an edge in a general election with any Dem due to the incumbency factor and the money machine he has, and it only increases if the Dems nominate a weak candidate, which might happen.
So 2008 might be the next open seat for the presidency, which would increase Hillary's chances to win greatly.

2. A Dem is going to win in 2004 so it probably won't be until 2012 |

She starts out any race with extremely high negatives. She is very polarizing. More than 40% of the electorate will not vote for her under any circumstance. She would probably win the blue states but fare so badly in the red states that she would fall short of the White House.

4. She's still a first term senator... |
|
That's pretty minimal experience for a presidential run.

5. And .... She Voted for the War |
|
Nobody could figure it out. Apparently she did the same thing as John Kerry, weighing whom she could more afford to piss off - Republicans or Democrats. Like Kerry, she assumed that Democrats would be more forgiving ... after all, she's one of us! Or so she thought.
She's among the Democratic politicians who were expected to defend humane values at a basic level, but failed to do so. In so doing, she made herself ineligible for my vote, even for any lesser office. In my view, she's simply an opportunist, an outsider. Why all that noise, Hillary? If you were going to act like a Republican, why didn't you stay in Illinois?
She's another one to whom I say: Tell your story walking.
