Who went to the Moveon house party? How'd it go? |
|
I went to a Moveon party in Los Angeles. Amazing turnout. The house was filled and overflowing with men and women of all ages.
We went around the room and introduced ourselves. I was very impressed by the concern, anger, insight, and energy expressed by everyone. Election reform was the biggest concern overall. No surprise there.
Lots of emotion which is to be expected, in fact it should be heartily supported. Im worried about those who arent angry. Now, if we can channel the energy to confront the most vital issues facing us, we can build on this sturdy foundation of concerned citizens that we have already built. It will take alot of work, steely determination and vision for a more sane, disciplined healthier country. Lady Liberty is depending on us now. So is our planet and every creature on it.
Please post your experiences and thoughts. Would really love to hear the positive aspects and ideas received from the parties.

1. Went to house party in NC |
|
It was great to spend time going over so many issues concerning our admin and to be to discuss openingly my concerns on the war, the election, the future of the demo party, etc. I fill so much connected to the party and the moveon.org organization. I really loved the internet connection to all the other house parties, it was really great.

3. Absolutely. It was great connecting with others who feel so similarly. |
|
Hopefully, we can perhaps plan regular moveon parties. I think that way we can be more effective as well as get to know more individuals in our communities as well which is always a plus*

2. We had around 60 in San Rafael, |
|
and there were a few other groups in other nearby gatherings.
They had a projector displaying the MoveOn web page, and the ability to see the US map populate with all our friends across the nation was a trip.

Made me feel very connected. And I loved it when one of the NY moveon parties cheered.
No doubt a very positive use of technology! :)

9. Yep, went to a party here in Seattle |
|
one of many. The map reminded me of a scene from Wargames - anybody remember that one?
I loved the way it felt like town hall democracy in action.
It was way cool.

It was great. Nice people and it seems like we all have turned off CNN and shared the stories we read online for our news. Amazing thing is talk turned to 911 and no one batted an eye at saying that 'they knew' and the word facism was thrown around a lot. The top issues in our group of about 16 were having a legitimate election and Supreme Court nominees. Strategies were media--a free press and getting the Dems to have a backbone.

7. went to one of three MoveOns in the Houston Heights |
|
There were people from all over town, but for some reason all three of the MoveOn meetings that were within 10 miles of me were in the same neighborhood. Yes, it was crowded. Yes, it was exciting. Imagine, real flesh and blood Democrats--part of 55 million people ready to fight for America. I can see that there's a lot of diverse view points among us. It'll be tough herding us cats into one unified message.
But on the plus side... imagine what was taking place. Over 1000 MoveOn parties, probably averaging about 20 people apiece. That's 20,000 people nationwide all having the same conversation at the same time. THAT is completely awesome.

8. Thanks for posting Texas* Am concerned about my home state. |
|
But you guys seem to be doing just fine despite any opposition. Texas Dems are in a class all their own! Ya'll make us proud. :)
Exactly, loads of people gathered on a Sunday evening (afternoon*), and 20,000 is a good starting point. Id say it was probably like thirty or could have reached forty* (Call me idealistic*)
