6. Does anybody else find... |
|
Does anybody else find that in survey after survey, no matter what the topic, that the same few Blue states come up as "the winners" in your opinion? Women's rights, acceptance of gays, quality of education, knowledge about the world beyond Podunk, ability to name the Square Root of 2 to 3 signigificant digits, whatever! It always comes out almost exactly the same way.

12. That's cuz the surveys are biased |
|
They aren't asking the right questions like about stuff in the bible, and about how Darwin is a liar. /sarcasm

(I saw your sarcasm tag. Still...)
Oh no! Even when they ask questions like that, the Blue states always end up on what I would consider the correct side. "Is Darwin the spawn of the Devil Satan, the enemy of the one true Gawd?" Blue States: 78% say no. Red states: 66.6% say "Hell yes!"
Survey after survey after survey, any topic, any way the question is phrased...

While insurance companies have a lot of problems, the ones based in the so-called insurance capital of Hartford, CT are generally pretty progressive in their hiring practices:
Remember, before Janet Reno, Bill Clinton had put the name Zoe Baird up there for Attorney General before nanny-gate derailed her nomination, and she was the top lawyer at Aetna at the time. I also remember chiding a macho Republican friend of mine that works at that same Aetna when last year they were named the best company for gays & lesbians (which was broadcast on the frontpage of their website)... if I'm also not mistaken, Aetna's president is black.
I think the CEO of The Hartford is Indian-American, but I'm not sure (Ramani something?)
And, companies that have a significant presence in the area like Travelers (or St Paul Travelers now) and Cigna also tout their rankings in "Best of..." lists for minorites, women, etc.
