Big Time as Cheney would say.Even the professionals, battered by competition from overseas, have muted their wage demands and this has clearly had an effects on the salaries for experienced professionals. Those who are employed for ten years or more are running scared of losing their jobs either to younger people or to overseas workers.Fear is stalking corporate corridors. The automotive industry, decimated by competitors from Germany and Japan is trying to get rid of as many middle managers as it can. Many suppliers to the auto industry are feeling the squeeze too.It seems to be either move to India or China or Mexico or perish.

In the next few years, our middle class, or whatever is left of it, will have to learn to survive on rice and beans. We are likely to see a stagnant wage structure and galloping inflation ( $3.00 a gallon gas anyone?). Nice combination if you ask me.
