JFK Murder Anniversary....
today is the 41st anniversary of President Kennedy's death. It seems like yesterday--I can even remember what I wore to school that day. DUers, what are your memories of 11/22/63?

1. My 3rd grade class
Was not paying attention to the TV.
I stood up, and I can't really remember what I said, but it was something about how we were going to be dealing with this as grownups.

Apparently, I weirded my teacher out. It was the start of a long career of weirded people out.

2. I recall hearing the news over the radio in my 7th grade class..
The class got very quiet and the teacher was crying. We were excused for an extra long recess. I remember getting into a very emotional and
intense football game on the school grounds during that recess. It seemed like everyone was very upset and angry and wanted to let it out in the game. After the game we were excused and went home.

3. It is still clear to me.
I was at school in my music class. My teacher's name was Mrs. Wilkerson.

I noticed the door cracked and she was motioned to the hall. After 4 minutes, she came back and asked me to play the piano. I went to the front and opened a song book and started to play. Suddenly Mrs Wilkerson reemerge in tears. I knew something was very, very wrong. That's when she told us that the President had been shot. School was going to be dismissed. She requested that I continue playing the piano because she was unable to continue. I went back to the piano played for about 1 minutes, stopped, then broke out in tears. The entire class was crying. It was a very emotional moment that I will never forget.

In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.

Rest in Peace President Kennedy

4. A different view
I was listening to a radio broadcast from WGN in Chicago about ten years ago or so (not sure when). The host asked the newsguy what his memories were of the announcement of Kennedy's assasination. The newsguy said they were pretty strange. Seems he was a young newsguy in Denver. All he could remember is people dancing and shouting and being really happy. I was stunned. He said he couldn't believe it, but Kennedy was really hated out there. He said he himself was overcome with grief. I believe it was (probably) the Bob Collins show I was listening to.

5. For my rememberance of JFK I'd like to point out
that the Warren Commission's findings are still being withheld from the public.

Our government keeps withholding information, conducting whitewash investigations, and things continue to go downhill. Do Kennedy a favor and demand the truth in your lifetime.

6. Sealed for 50 years, if I remember correctly.
Only a decade to go to find out what really happened.

As if.
