One Positive Thing out of this Debacle
For reference, I live in The Heart of Dixie (I know this because it's printed inside a tiny little red heart on my license plate).

Since the so-called election, I have been forming friendships with former acquaintances and "faces seen but people not known" in various places. For example...the Gym.

Over the last couple of weeks I have noted the K/E bumper stickers on vehicles outside my gym and watched who drove them. The next time I saw them I struck up a conversation about our shared horror. For example, today I had a conversation with a Professor of Education and she told me about her husband's possible plight. See, he too is a professor (at a different University) and has shown his students F9-11 in class. He was not censored, but they have heard about other teachers (including the one in NC) who were suspended for showing the film and that has caused rumblings in his school. I gave her my support and she in turn (as a local who is involved in her church) gave me evidence that there are many here, even in my deeply red area, that opposed *'s invasion of Iraq and the irresponsible way these guys are handling our Nation's treasury.

The positive thing for me is that I no longer feel like an outcast. Alliances are being made. :)

After so much anger, shock, sadness, distrust and disillusionment lately...I needed this.

I hope other DUers are experiencing this too.

Yes, I agree that there's definitely a sense of unity among us liberals that reminds me of those WW II flicks about the French fighting the Nazi occupation.

And I was definitely very happy to meet all you wonderful folks here on DU!

But while I may be a romantic, I'm still leaving for Vancouver in 2006, even if I have to walk!

5. That similarity had crossed my mind.
Many factions in the good old USA are not in line with this brutal, corrupt regime. And we will unite.

Don't blame you for going north. But since you are here...why not get vocal in your space.

:toast: Welcome to DU!

3. Here in One of the Bluest of Blue States...
...I have noticed that very few people have taken the KERRY/EDWARDS stickers off of their cars. I think that many of us are detewrmined to show that we are not going to go home and shut up for the rest of our lives because fox, cnn, rove, the rnc and the righties on talk radio tell us too!

Wasn't it Sun-Tzu who said that within your adversary's triumph lie the seeds of his demise?

We ain't done by a long shot.

BTW, for any lurking righties reading this I have 2 things to say;
1. I am referring to a political defeat as a demise, so don't go reporting me to the department of homeland fearmongering, and

2. go pound sand up your ass!

7. I had a wonderful time last night at the first MoveOn House Party
in my area. Ten of us like-minded folks gathered at a house in Akron to express our opinions on "What's Next", well what's next is a new network of friends in the area. We decided on a short list of actions we should be taking, listened in on a conference call with Eli and Adam, then had a discussion. I would recommend finding a local group in your area participating in the House Parties. There were over 1500 last night with over 18,000 people in attendance. Check it out at :

8. Good for you blue sky...
We each have to do what we have to do.

Oh, and for the Dean haters out there...I no longer give a crap about your venom towards him. He's speaking out right now. He is actually doing something in an effort to slow down (!) the corporate and Far-right takeover of America.

What the hell is your candidate doing in these regards?

:boring:
