"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible..."
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 06:43 PM by Beam Me Up
Appropriate quotes given today's date and the current state of our electoral process:
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
  --  John F. Kennedy

I never realized Kennedy was so dangerous to the establishment.
-- Statement made in Oliver Stone's film JFK by New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison.

2. Absolutely Subversive. It's now obvious that Kennedy was
always in cahoots with Kruschev and that the whole Cuban Missile Crisis was just a ruse between the two to throw Americans off the trail that he was secretly really a commie.

3. Well, that is a provocative conclusion.
Not quite the one I came to.

8. Whew! That's a relief.
For a long time after Kennedy was assassinated I wondered WHY the ruling elite would do that to 'one of their own.' I assumed because he came from a wealthy family that he was 'one of them.' I was a teenager at the time. It wasn't until I was an adult that I began to understand that, in fact, he was not one of them; that the Kennedys were looked down upon because they were 'new rich', Irish and Catholic.

5. Is the JFK quote accurate? I only ask because the term "Revolution" isn't
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 08:00 PM by JanMichael
...just a cheesy gimmick for Chevy.

Meaning, generally speaking, only crazed Leftists (Like myself) use it seriously.

7. Yes, it is accurate.

I understand how you could be skeptical. There was a time, before they were assassinated, that our leaders spoke in these terms. Here is a quote from a 1967 speech by MLK where he quotes the JFK quote:
... the words of the late John F. Kennedy come back to haunt us. Five years ago he said, "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." Increasingly, by choice or by accident, this is the role our nation has taken -- the role of those who make peaceful revolution impossible by refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investment.

As true today as it was 40 years ago.

The lefts biggest mistake has always been UNDERESTIMATING the absolute ruthlessness of the opposition.
