Interesting commentary on Brawl, race, violence on CNN
I just caught the end of an interview Paula Zahn just conducted with a black commentaror, I believe, from ESPN. He said that the Brawl was provoked, if not justified, by abuse players receive while playing, especially of a racist nature. With regard to violence, he said that we as a society seemed to be becoming accustomed to violence, but pointed out that while this incident was a fistfight, we have a war going on in Iraq. I was somewhat surprised by these comments, as they were a different take from what I'd heard all day. I think Paula was surprised, too. If anyone else saw this interview, please help with more information, or opinion.

1. I was watching , but missed most of it
playing with playdough :) I'll try to look for the transcript, because I was thinking the same. For pete's sake, yes it's horrible, but the media is talking, even though not showing dead bodies and bombing/blasting things every night in Iraq.

2. I'd like to see that interview.
It's what I thought when I saw it happen, its basically what the commentators were saying as it happened, but it got drowned out in the "NBA (black) Thugs Attack (innocent white) Fans" and "lynch the nigger" bullshit.

3. Clemson coach pretty much blamed the Clemson-USC
brawl on the NBA fight.

4. well, one thing's for sure . . . the taunts by "fans" in the NBA . . .
have become absolutely vile in recent years . . . you'd think that the wise thing to do would be to remove those who yell racial slurs, use profanity, or otherwise disrupt the games with comments that aren't fit for kids' ears (or even adults' ears, for that matter) . . . banning a few of these jerks at each venue would do a lot to alleviate the problem, imo . . .
