My problem with Air America
I have a problem with Air America when their people take vacations. They really need to find substitutes for those on vacation. A week of the "best" and weekends is a little too much. They really need to do something about this. So, if Randi takes a 6 week medical leave, do we need to have six weeks of the best of Randi? Laura Flanders, Guy James or Mike Newcomb would make great substitutes. Don't know about you this ticks me off. They really need to strengthen the stations they have already. Maybe they could bring in Bernie Ward or Ray T.
Just a thought and a pet peeve.

16. They wouldn't necessarily need to be political.
They could have a music show. Or comedians. Or talk about the economy or investing or even shopping from a progressive perspective (ie: ethical investments, products, services, corporations).

4. I agree.
There must be some good subs out there. This is such a critical time, and we're scrambling for the latest news, a week of reruns is disappointing. Even holidays, the AAR team sure deserves to relax, but I wouldn't mind a different host. Is Randi taking six weeks? I guess I missed that discussion.

5. Guest hosts would be a great idea
I'd like to hear Atrios or Kos fill in for a week.

And it shouldn't be too hard to find some original progamming for the weekend. How about some local talent at some of their affiliate stations?

Let Dr. D have a week, complete with LiveBlogging the show. That would be some very interesting stuff.

6. subs
I agree that at a time when dems are looking for any smidgen of info about the election recounts/investigations, it is aggravating to hear interviews with BBV people that were done 2 weeks ago. I want to hear up to date info.

11. addy for AAR? none at site, old one not work: subs-book authors
the old my2cents@ addy no longer works.

None at the site either.

Anyone knowhow to reach the hermits that own the AAR?

i sent complaints about vacations... back when old addy worked, august.

I not satisfied with using blogs of hosts, to reach the owner of AAR. Too uncertain it will get to him/her.

great vacation hosts... book authors eager to promote the ideas intheir books and sell books. Maybe Palast!

19. Also, LOTS of people are buying Sirius and paying monthly
to even GET the AAR programming.. Would you continue to pay for cable, if all you got were reruns>>

They should have guest hosts.. Guy James comes to mind.. and TBTM guys...and I am sure there are plenty of others who would be better than re-runs.

it's not fun to listen to something two times, let alone three. i have to believe they are operating at a loss right now, so perhaps it is strictly economic, maybe we should all be contributing to them. that topic came up at the MoveOn house party... we need more media outlets: are you listening george soros? i actually had to switch the station the other night to the world on the BBC after listening to malloy for the third time. I am willing to bear with them for now, in fact i can't listen to commercial radio at all, and npr's rightward tilt has made me want out of there also, and i have listened to them for 20 plus years. Good point, I am sure it will draw some posts. (BTW, i will come back and check out npr after the pain subsides)

14. How about
Olberman? Hope I spelled his name correctly. He would be interesting especially if gets the axe. There are many people out there. The DNC or Soros should help out since this is our only outlet right now.

15. Donate:leaflets:weekly ppr ad:your Will: subsidies, DNC, AFLCIO
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 10:40 PM by oscar111
some ideas for helping aar.

someone when i posted this before, asked "how can you donate if it is a profit making venture?" I am confused by that. Anyone?

add aar to your Will.

Bug AFLCIO AND DNC to subsidize aar... they need it desperately.

make your own leaflets and printout fm cpr, and leave them everywhere. be sure to include the url for streaming.. and any frequency. Use eyecatching red paper.\

Alternative papers have tiny oneline clasifieds.. buy one for aar.

Tell aar to fix their glitchy site, pls.

find an addy as i said, please.

Rush has guest hosts. Why are we so stupid and rush acting smarter? Puzzles me. Any fool could run AAR better than this thing of reruns. AAR should have heard complaints about reruns in August, when it came up here at DU then.
Should we make AAR a co op, by buying it ? Anyone able to get that going?

20. Hmmm.
Isn't it too bad that they are standing out as a sore thumb in the midst of a blown-dried, overly made up bunch of conservatives "journalists", trying to get OUR message out and someone complains.

21. celita, we just want more of those who get our message out
have to complain when they are scarce, and no substitutes.

We like food, but when it is scarce, we ought to complain , to get more.

Outrageous that weekends, all reruns. Is that true? No aar here, so i have not heard it firsthand.

24. Let's get BARTCOP on the air to fill in....and I don't even get AAR
in my area (Los Angeles CA area, the nations second largest radio market). AAR is on a punky day time only station with a signal that goes 10 miles, and the shows are all on tape, edited, and played out of sequence.
