Kerry/Edwards is back!!
Kerry/Edwards Campaign Participates in Ohio Recount

Monday, November 22, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 22, 2004

Kerry/Edwards Campaign Participates Ohio Recount Ohio Democratic Party Seeks Volunteers to Help Recount.

COLUMBUS – Assuring Ohioans receive an accurate count of all votes cast for president has prompted the Democratic Party to participate in the initiative to recount the results of the Nov. 2 presidential election.

“As Senator Kerry stated in his concession speech in Boston, we do not necessarily expect the results of the election to change, however, we believe it necessary to make sure everyone's vote is counted fairly and accurately,” said Dennis White, Ohio Democratic Party chair.

Columbus Attorney Donald McTigue will lead the recount effort on behalf of Ohio Democrats. The party will be recruiting volunteer witnesses to assist in the recount process in all 88 counties.

On Election Day and throughout the month of November, angry Ohio citizens have expressed frustration with long lines, malfunctioning voting machines and undelivered absentee ballots. There have been inconsistencies in the unofficial reports of the election, including an error in one Franklin County precinct that gave George Bush 3,893 more votes than actually cast for him.

The recount can begin after the official results are certified, which likely will be in the first week of December. The Democratic Party wants to be fully prepared to begin a recount immediately.

Volunteers can sign up at the Ohio Democratic Party website: www.ohiodems.org and the party will also accept contributions to help offset the cost of completing a recount.

“We are proud to stand up for Democrats all over the world who have asked us to make sure every vote gets counted. And we want to demonstrate that Ohio can do better in the future to guarantee every voters who wants to vote, has a chance to vote,” White said.

You certainly do seem strangely obsessed with trying to discredit & repudiate the efforts others are making. :wtf:

18. Bullshit! Why can't Kerry pony up some of that 15,000,000 we gave him?
Kerry is sitting on 15 megabucks left over from our donations. Don't you think he could spend some of THAT to help out? I'm broke from trying to get Dems elected this year.

Cough up the cash Kerry and let's try to win this!

Cobb Asks Federal Court, Expedite Recount

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 22nd, 2004

Cobb / Badnarik File Today for Federal Court Order

Seek to Expedite 'Full Hand Count' before Dec 13 Electors Meeting

Plaintiffs Include Individual Ohio Voters, Green Party and Libertarian Candidates; Effort Is Endorsed by Common Cause

Attorneys for Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian Michael Badnarik will jointly file a lawsuit today against Ohio Secretary of State Blackwell and 88 county electoral directors to expedite an immediate recount of the presidential vote in all Ohio counties. The ultimate goal of the lawsuit is to ensure a full and accurate count of all votes and to protect and` restore the` integrity of` the` electoral process.

Ohio Secretary of State Blackwell's denial of their formal request on Friday has led attorneys for the candidates to take legal action to compel an immediate recount.

The candidates have expressed deep concern that the timetable laid out by Blackwell would not provide sufficient time for the counties to recount all 5.5 million votes in the state by hand before the state's presid= ential electors meet on December 13. They have also requested that Blackwell, a Republican who served as a Chair of the Bush campaign in Ohio, recuse himself from the recount process.

Just a few moments ago I contributed to Nader again and will contribute to this recount as well. This is all about us, the citizens of a democracy (Republic) having our votes counted and accepted as they should be without tapering from external parties in their desire to beat us down. Hurray, that is one for American.

And by the way it is about time that Kerry/Edwards get back into the fight and battle it out on our behalf, happy to see you boys can live up to your words, we have your back !!!!!!!!!!!!

I am dancing in my bedroom I am so happy.

I have also volunteered to help with the recount (taking off work) in Ohio so everyone let's join in on the recount party. This is history and we are a part of it.

32. Ohio Recount ...
"The third-party candidates have said they are not interested in overturning President Bush's victory in the state. But they say they are concerned about reports of voting irregularities and believe a recount is necessary to ensure accuracy."

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apelection_story.asp?category=1131&slug=Recount%20Rebellion

Thats all well and good but then the article goes on to say ...

"The two former third-party candidates have said they raised more than $150,000 to cover the state's fee for a recount. Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct, or $113,600 statewide, but election officials say the true expense would be far greater.

LoParo has estimated the actual cost at $1.5 million."

It seems to be a lot of tax-payer money going to a "lost cause." Given the high unemployment and other problems here in Ohio, wouldn't that money be better used for other programs?

If there is rampant unemployment in Ohio, due to 's stewardship, I would think that Buckeyes would be thankful to have a second chance to out the puffed up little buffoon..

Money well spent :)

35. RE; Ohio recount
"If Ohio had not screwed it up so badly it would be unecessary "

1st off ... *We* (the taxpayers of Ohio) are not the one's who "screwed it up"

"Money well spent :) "

Secondly ... that's easy for you to say, when its not *your* money.

Even the candidates who are pushing for this know its not going to change the results, but are doing this out of "principle."
They raised the money through donations so its not *their* money either. My objection stems from the fact that it's the TAXPAYERS who have to foot the bill. If there were even a slight mathematical chance of it changing the outcome, it would be different.

36. Determining that we have fair elections is money well spent
I just want to say that I think that a recount is good and that it is not wasted taxpayer money. I think that being able to verify elections and ensure that people can have confidence that their votes are counted is one of the most important things we can have in this country. I felt so strongly that I even donated extra money to recount efforts. In NH, one result was already overturned because Nader got a recount. Making sure elections are fair and every vote is counted honestly is money well spent in my opinion!

Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 03:41 PM by high density
There's too much bullshit going on in Ohio that was brought on by Ken Blackwell, et al. If they didn't want this then they shouldn't have played dirty in the first place! If the taxpayers of Ohio really gave a crap about their schools or unemployment, they wouldn't have voted for Chimpy.

the whole "conspiracy theory" bullsh*t. The election is over and we need to get on with our lives. Look to the future instead of to the past.

"If the taxpayers of Ohio really gave a crap about their schools or unemployment, they wouldn't have voted for Chimpy."

So, are you saying the 49% that voted FOR Kerry aren't taxpayers or that they don't "give a crap" ? C'mon now ... let's be realistic. (BTW: school funding is a local/state issue)
