Old news, but it's come up lately among Freep friends |
|
When Bin Laden said he wouldn't attack any state that didn't interfere with Arab security, he was talking about NATION-states, correct?
The freep friends assume American states, blue vs red, as in a vote for Kerry is a vote not to be attacked. That can't be right.
What do y'all think?

1. I'm glad I live in a blue state just in case! |
|
Actually I have heard Arabic translators say that OBL WAS referring to state states, not nation-states.
I also wish we would have pursued him instead of Hussein, a reply I always use on the freeper types.

5. I live in a Red county |
|
It goes with the territory. Two of them I can have decent conversations with. The others I'd like to punch. But every once in a while I meet a blue person in stealth mode. It's amazing how wearing a Kerry button in the Red Zone with quietly bring them out, if only to whisper "nice button!" I found out most of my church is blue that way. So proud of them.
I was also in the paper in my Kerry gear (praying at the election results party). I found out a few more people around me voted for Kerry than I suspected. Even so, I've been swimming through smug land for the last few weeks. Lost $30 bucks too. Damn fraud!

I think he's figured out how to manipulate the US as much as the Bushies do. If he meant red state/blue state, the only reason would be to pit us against each other even more. His is a war against American corporate money and American influence, all Americans. I don't think this state thing is worth giving a second thought.

that freepers would think this way. They have no concept of any other way of thinking about things. To many foreigners, the US is -- well -- the US. The concept of states being different really doesn't compute. You might ask the Freepers how many Canadian provinces they can name, or to name the states in Germany. Ask them if they think of those places as a collection of states. In Germany's case, these places, like Bavaria, used to be independent principalities and really were seperate nations, but I don't believe most foreigners now think of them as such-they consider Germany as an entire nation.

6. Come on. You think Bin Laden would rather attack Iowa instead of Florida? |
|
How stupid do we have to pretend we are in this country..... What should concern the Freepers is that with all our money, power and military might we don't have a linguist trained enough to understand what the main terrorist we are spending all this shit to get is even saying.

7. perhaps they fall into the "South will rise again" fanatics...I've met |
|
a few. People who still believe a confederacy, a very loose organization of states, is preferable to a truly united country. Sheesh, that's one of the reasons the South lost....each state to busy covering its' own butt to care about what was going on in another one.... But, yes, there still are people who yearn for this. Crazy. So they see individual states, not a country...dividers, not uniters.

8. Doubtful that was bin laden in that tape. He probably died in December |
|
2001. At any rate, the terrorists you need to be afraid of are in the WH. THEY will be the ones to launch the next attack. THEY are the ones that benefit from it.
