Is it actually possible for a Smiley face to start flame war?

A happy face smiles back from the scope of a U.S. Army sniper's rifle, during a mission searching for insurgents in Mosul, Iraq (news - web sites), Monday, Nov. 22, 2004. U.S. and Iraqi forces in Mosul have been working put down an uprising launched by guerrillas who seized police stations and other sites. (AP Photo/Jim MacMillan)

1. I don't see why it should
The soldier clearly understands why he's in Iraq: Killing for Wal-Mart.

2. If it's wearing a dress, has sticks for legs, and is sporting an Adam's
Apple, it's quite likely.

Btw, still using M14s? Wow. Must be the spotter getting in on it.

3. i thought the army was about 30 years beyond using M14's for sniper rifles
but maybe in close situations like mosul, it's ok.

4. ew....though I doubt
that trying to numb out the havoc being wrought will spare this serviceman from the psyche problems that often plague vets who later have to come to terms with having played a role... in which some innocent civilians were killed. Have known too many folks in what seems like a permanent state of PTS ... :-(
