Encourage rightwing extremism
My congressman is a nazi that's putting it politely, my senators are pitiful, one is a stupe and the other is a whiskey drunk. I'm going to be encouraging every act of stupidity they pull with letters of atta boy go get em, and sic those bastards.
I think I'll start a campaign to get the constitution ammended to officially declare America a christian nation, and advocate for mandatory church attendance.
The sooner john q. sees these people for who they are the sooner we get rid of them.

2. that's a good point. the more their extremism and insanity
comes to light, the more the reasonable people -- who make up the majority of this country -- will see them for what they are.

they'll no longer be able to hide behind their platitudes and bait and switch bullshit.

3. Why all the faith in "john q."?
He hasn't done much to warrant it yet.

A better strategy would be to out-fundamental the fundies. Get signs that say "Birth control = murder" or calling for the repeal of the 19th amendment because it ain't Biblical.

If we all demonstrated pretending to be right wing radicals in support of stoning for pornographers, cutting off the hands of thieves, and legislation against the display of female abdomens in public maybe then it would scare the middle.

5. I couldn't agree more.
I've been writing letters to groups RW Christian pointing out their victory in this year's election and how it is a mandate to getting their agenda pushed through.

I go on to discuss Abortion and Stem Cell Research and how we should work to have in vitro fertilization banned - on the grounds that thousands of fertilized eggs are destroyed every year out of convenience.

My hope is that the far right and its agenda pulls the republican party apart at the seams.

6. I doubt that they need encouragement.
They seem to be doing an effective job of transforming this country into the 4th Reich.

7. Absolutely!
I hope they get everything they want so the next election will truly be a mandate and they crawl back under the rocks from which they came.

nonexistant couple. You wouldn't want your new neighbors to be persecuted by right-wing fools.

This does bring up an interesting experience I once had with a Christmas party at my boss's house. She belongs to Assemblies of God as do friends and family members. They always said a prayer in a circle with everyone holding hands, which I went along with for the sake of "getting along." The husband of one employee, well on his way to becoming a real "nut" was seated at a table with about 6 or 7 other people, most of whom are religious right-wingers. He started "preaching" and prosthelitizing - really running off at the mouth. One after another the other people at the table got up and excused themselves until he was alone at the table. Even born-agains and evangelicals get tired of it all sometimes and I can REALLY see the point the original poster is making.

P.S. About that Assemblies of God boss of mine - lovely lady (I still love her), who believed the bible was not "infallible" and actually did believe in evolution.

11. They Will Be All Too Happy To Do All of That And More
They have the votes to do it, and once they do, it's done, and so are we.
Do you really want to live that way for five minutes, let alone the rest of your life,
and your childrens' lives, and your children's children, and their children....

There is no "getting rid of" a theocracy once it has taken control.
There aren't even any examples of such a thing in history.
It never happens.
The Dark Ages went on for a thousand years, with the Inquistion,
and seven increasingly disasterous Crusades. The theocracy only
lost its grip because eventually all of the religious nutcases
got killed off in the Crusades. If they start up the draft, we
won't even have that to put a brake on things.

doesn't already see them for what they are. Perhaps America is not so stupid as we believe? Perhaps they want what * promised them? Then what do we do??
