He's Daschle's replacement because the people in Daschle's state voted him out. I'm sure that fact was not lost on Reid, who is addressing an issue more important in his state then the appointees are. I'm not saying he was right to do so, but I do understand why he did it.

I understand that these lower court appointees are far more dangerous in the long run than the Supremes, and more important in the big picture than Yucca Mountain which they will get anyway.
