Ukrainians care more about Democracy than Americans...
They are putting you sheeple to shame.

"What do you do when an election is stolen?"

The American way is to roll over, don't make waves and go along with the Fascist who stole it.

The Ukrainian way is to fight back.

3. Be fair. This is a huge country with totally corrupt news media
People don't know how severe the corruption was becaus the "news" media have allowed themselves to be bullied into not covering the story. There's little way for word of mouth to spread or handbills to be handed out to most people in this country. The logistics of getting any mass movement going are staggering. It's a completely different setup here in the US than it is in a small country like the Ukraine.

7. i think you are wrong about how corrupt the media is
compared to places like the ukraine.
the media is corrupt in both places in different ways but the proof is there to see for those who wish to see it.

The opposition opposes the corruption, why doesnt ours.

8. 48 million people and crappy infrastructure and the media
is basically in the state's hands still, so I really don't get your point. It's not like everyone has an internet connection there, even dial-up. The masses don't even have PCs yet. And look at the pictures, these are not just young people, these are folks from all walks of life. They have been living on less than 100 dollars a month and are tired of the continued corruption and lack of justice there while the elite are taking the spoils in the new capitalism. Their country was taken over by the Russians and they want nothing more to do with them. The Russians in the eastern half that would have voted for Kuchma's hand-picked successor don't have Ukrainian roots, they were transplanted there by the Soviets, the same way as in the Baltics. I applaud the Ukrainians for taking this into their own hands, their government has been hijacked by criminals. And yes, the parallels are striking aren't they!? :(

9. Americans are not involved in politics as many other nations
many nations that are much poor have people who are far more informed of what is going on in politics than in america. much has to do with many americans just being happy in their own private worlds.they don't struggle each day as some in these poorer nations do. there is also the issue of history. these other nations have had violent conflicts inside their own nations in recent times.they feel and see the results of politics directly. we haven't had anything like that. most people will go on with whatever they do , watch the same tv shows etc.

there are even certain people who vote in america who do so just because it's something one does. but they don't care enough to get informed about the issues and candidates. it's mostly about how they feel at the moment of voting.

i remember talking to some teenagers from foreign nations and was surprised at how much they knew of United States history and politics. i was surprised since most americans don't know. but for this person it was all just common knowledge.

11. it's not just America, but other well off nations like Britain and
Australia. most people in both nations opposed war in iraq but Australia re-elected their guy because they were happy in their own personal lives with the economy . same with the brits. they will hold some protests like in america but they will go on with their lives and not try to get rid of the leaders.

even in spain if Aznar's government had not lied he probably would have been re-elected.

Why the need to demonstrate we are not the stupidest? I tell you one thing: we are the most arrogant - and it'll cost us in so many ways - one being that we refuse to accept dictatorship can happen to high and mighty us!

10. the election was seriously flawed, and exit polls had put Yushchenko .....
the election was seriously flawed, and exit polls had put Yushchenko clearly ahead.

The above from a Yahoo article on the subject.

Americans have no idea their election was stolen. The Ukranians do.

Americans take democracy for granted. The Ukranians don't.

Americans are stupid. Ukranians are at least smart enough to know there are people who would and could steal their democracy from them.

15. United States of Hypocrisy points finger at Vote Fraud in Ukraine
"The hypocrisy in this country has finally reached astounding levels. Vote fraud in the Ukraine is the top news of the day. It turns out that the exit polls in the country which showed the challenger Mr Yushchenko leading 54 to 43 percent were completely overturned by the actual results of the election which gave the current prime minister, Mr Yanukovich, the win with 49.42 percent to 46.69 percent. This, of course, has raised the suspicion of vote fraud to everyone including the United States."
