Alan Keyes sent a letter to my office - I will share, for all to enjoy...
The envelope says:

"Now our President has a mandate to do the right thing - and use the Bully Pulpit of the Presidency like Ronald Reagan did."

Inside the envelope a letter from Alan (just a few highlights):

"The fact that one out of five Americans just said moral decline was the major issue that decided their vote in support of conservative candidates leaves us no room to rest on our laurels!"

"I'm concerned that under mounting political pressure, President Bush will duck, dodge, or let drop the "contentious" issues we know are a priority"

"The President need not worry about pleasing the news media (they hate him anyway), because he now has been reelected, and cannot run again."

"P.S. I've been so busy campaigning these past few months that the Declaration Foundation has suffered as a result. Please, consider the best gift you can send today"

And a request for donations:

"Dear Alan, please get the President's attention on these issues right away! The vital importance of the War on Terror is no excuse for unprincipled politicians and liberal judges to steel our freedoms. Now that he can't be kept from reelection, please encourage President Bush to speak out!! Here's my gift for the Declaration Foundation....."

And a petition to sign: (the caps and exclamations are in the letter)

"Dear President Bush, you can fight terror AND represent patriotic Americans like me at the same time!

-Please don't cave in-send the Senate strictly Constitutional judges. And if they refuse to vote on your nominees, star making recess appointments until they do!

-PLEASE SPEAK OUT! Please defend Marriage! Use the "bully pulpit" of the Presidency to protect traditional marriage from radical activist and liberal judges. SPEAK UP FOR THE TEN COMMANDMENTS! Let every law-abiding American hear YOU upholding the Divine Source of our righteous laws.

-STOP THE BIG SPENDING! Your tax cuts will get wiped out and our children's future will be bankrupt unless you veto Congress's budget-busting!

-REFORM SOCIAL SECURITY! Speak out so the public understands that financial security for our children and grandchildren is at risk if it's not reformed!
-PUSH FOR TAX REFORM that gets the IRS off our backs. You briefly hinted you like the idea of a national sales tax-talk it up AND back it up!

MOST IMPORTANTLY, Mr. President, I know you believe as I do, that abortion kills a living child, and that partial-birth abortion is a heinous crime. Please use your second term to campaign relentlessly for the lives of these unborn and just-born little ones, whom godless courts are refusing to protect, despite the federal legislation you signed.

Mr. President, please remember that there are now NO negative electoral consequences to your speaking out on these issues! History and a grateful nation will THANK YOU for hearing me. I look forward to you bold leadership on these matters of most fundamental principle.

Sincerely yours,"

The scary thing is the man at work does send money to requests like this.

8. GOPAC says "No" National Sales Tax

Saw a GOPAC meeting broadcast on C-SPAN shortly after the election. They changed their minds about the National Sales Tax. First, the GOP candidate in South Carolina up twenty points in the polls quickly dropped into a tie (I don't know who eventually won that one) when he decided to make his support of a National Sales Tax the centerpoint of his campaign while his Democratic opponent decided to ... make the GOP candidate's support of a National Sales Tax the centerpoint of her campaign also.

The GOP was shocked to discover that people liked the idea of replacing Income Tax with a National Sales Tax right up to the point where they learned the National Sales Tax would be 23%. It suddenly seemed like a really, really stupid idea.

Personally, I am really disappointed. If the GOP had done this, from that time forward the GOP would be known as the authors of the largest tax in the country. Let THEM be stuck with the "tax and spend" label for a few decades.

ignore homonyms like, 'steel'.

9. Shouldn't it be illegal for someone who lost a vote
77% to 21% to talk about mandates and bully pulpits?
