Guys, doesn't this free Dan Rather to speak out? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 02:12 PM by PlanetBev
Sometimes I look at him and wonder if his head is about to explode over what is happening to this country. I always thought he was someone that was bound to have a Howard Beale moment sooner or later. I just don't see this man remaining silent. I think the Freeptards will come to regret that he's been sprung from the CBS Evening News. That has to be a pretty limiting format for someone as feisty as Dan.

2. I'm anticipating a book |
|
that tells the truth about the pressure the "news" media are under to knuckle under to the RNC.
It's one book I'll probably buy.

No one did more damage to John Kerry than this senile old shithead. Its too bad he is going to continue on at 60 minutes, because I can't stand the sight of him.

14. Dan Rather is the last of the honest journalists. |
|
He did little harm to Kerry. At worst the Guard story was marginalised in its punch to Bush. But by the the SBVFT had done their damge and nothing was going to change it. And BTW, Dan was the only journalist with the courage to speak out at all. And the documents were accurrate. The signature was verified. And the secretary said she typed such a document saying the same .just not that one. If the signature is authentic, what difference does it make who typed it? Dan was crucified in the aftermath by the WH for even attempting to report on them. You should be ashamed about your comments. Rather was reporting from Afganistan and Iraq during the war at the age of 71 . What were you doing? I hope you enjoy the quality of journalism you are going to get now that he isn't in charge. I just don't understand how we can bitch about not having a liberal media and then rejoice when one of our own is torn dowm.

16. You've got to be kidding me |
|
The old bastard wouldn't admit the stuff was forged, creating a media frenzy that knocked Kerry off message for two weeks. In addition, it took all the focus off a number of actual documents that were damaging to Bush. All and all, one of the most incompetant journalistic episodes I have ever seen, and it probably cost us the election, enforcing the image of democrats going to any lengths to beat up on poor old George. The whole thing smacks of a well-orchestrated Karl Rove plant, and this chump fell for it. Good riddance.

17. The signature wasn't forged. They just don't know who |
|
typed the document. The secretary confirms she typed one similar to it. Big deal. That is not a forgery. How can you have a typewritten forgery with an authentic signature. Sheesh. Bushco wanted Rather down and took something that was not bad and made it appear so, And you blame Rather? Cost us the election? No one cared. The Swifties hurt us the most. And if no one is really counting the votes ,none of it matters. You are the chump. When you have accomplished as much as Rather and are willing to go into a war zone at the age of 72 ,then you get to criticize. JMHO. You are free to think what you want. I just disagree. Rather is a big loss.

|
to include 60 Minutes and other sundry projects within CBS, I don't see him letting loose just yet.

10. Did anybody watch CBS on election night? |
|
I couldn't bear to watch. How did Dan look when it appeared that Bush won? I'm sure he knew he'd be shown the door if Bush won.

Dan Rather was adamant that he would not call the election for Chimpy prematurely. He remained professional, although I would not call him "happy."
I wonder if anybody will take over "Now" on PBS after Bill Moyers leaves?
