Brokaw and Rather
I wonder if they are just sick of being shills. They must know something is terribly wrong.
Do you think so, or is it just coincidence that they are both getting out?

2. I'd be more concerned with their replacements at this point.

8. same here
the question is, what kind of pressure have the new folks been under building up to their big day? think rove has em on speed-dial? or does he sneak into their bedrooms and play subliminal tapes while their sleeping? whatever the case, i'm not too optimistic.

11. Not me. My TV is OFF during the RNC propaganda hour.
I've had it with tabloid trash, conservative bobbleheads, and blatant lies of omission. That stuff is OFF, and I'm depriving their advertisers of an audience at the same time. I don't give a rip what the hapless sheep in the suburbs are swallowing with their dinners.

I'm starving the beast any way I can.

6. Probably...
But I just wonder if it was because of his age or if he is sick of fighting.

4. You may be right! Dan says he wants to go back to hard
reporting. It probably is a lot more fun that sitting at an anchor desk getting an ulcer.

I am really sorry to see Dan go. I have watched him for so many years. But it has to be hard to do that nightly thing. They only have 20 minutes - the rest is ads - to cover the news. None of the stories are very complete.

I think Dan will be great at stories on other CBS shows and I hope that is what he continues to do.

10. I thought I heard that a CBS guy just went over to CNN
It would be great if CNN would give Dan a gig like Aaron Brown's "NewsNight."

5. Brokaw happily sucks the dick of monarchy, and always has
He's stepping down to write books and bask in the glow of his own personal aura.

Rather is being fired by Sumner Redstone in a vain attempt to regain the good graces of the current Junta. Redstone's a fool for doing so, because he will slowly weaken his organization and inevitably be destroyed when he's weak and it's convenient.

I still think those memos were photocopies of real memos typed by Killian, but that's just my feeling.

Oh, and fuck Tucker Carlson...

12. It's been about three weeks since I last saw "Fuck Tucker Carlson"
It's nice to see it back in the spotlight. He really gives us Carlsons a bad name.

14. Then I'll say it some more: he's a pantywaist would-be Kent Brockman
with even less talent.

When the giant ants from outer space come to take over Earth, I'm sure he'll trample people to be first in line to suck up to them.

What a disgusting display.

7. Dan Rather is a good journalist imo.
Brokaw sold out a long time ago. He did, however, have an interesting comment early on Nov. 2nd. He called for national election reform because "we really need it."

So, there you go. A halfhearted comment on the way out so nobody could hurt him. Profiles in courage.

9. I wish I could find the transcript from Brokaw on the Daily show
He was pretty interesting on there, but I can't recall all he said.

13. They both have plenty of money, so I wish they would ...
join with other "real" journalists and form some sort of journalism consortium on the Internet. They could do the kind of investigative reporting they used to do. They would have credibility because of who they are, so maybe they could help web reporters escape the "tin foil hat" label. Also, people who don't normally go to the Internet for news because "you can't believe anything you read on the Internet" may finally have their eyes opened to the fact that the US news media is useless.

Hey, I can dream, can't I?
