1. WTF is up with Alaska??? |
|
I wanted somewhere to go quick after the election and the census bureau info said the median price for a home was like $160,000...who the hell lives there but natives and hippies and seasonal fishermen, oil riggers??
I cannot figure it out. I would love to live there, there were plenty of jobs open in every town I looked at, but hell, with housing like that...is there a large population of super rich..oil engineers...WTF?

I also looked into Alaska for a fleeting moment, the houses were all VERY reasonable with 160,000 being the high end and with that you got at least 10 acres of land.
Think about it, in most areas of the US the median house price is well over $200,000 and you get a tiny little plot with just enough room to walk outside and touch your neighbors house.
I also looked into England,, I can't do it. I live in a 2600 sq foot house and trip over my fiancee, there is no way I could move into something that is less than 1000 sq feet.

Florida just passed a constitutional amendment to raise the minimum wage to $6.15 hour and restaurant servers get $1 hour raise and it will increase yearly with inflation. It passed by 70/30% so some republicans liked the idea also.New Disney contract pays $6.70 hour starting and will increase union wages .10 hour a year for 3 years.A "Help Wanted" sign in Florida translates to "we cannot find good people to work at low wages so do not expect much"
